http://www.palmbeachpost.com/localnews/content/auto/epaper/editions/saturday/local_news_0425a83fb14f028700f3.htmlYa'all are gonna love this one. I'm about to bust my gut thinking about it. Just fills me with joy to share it... Makes me feel like the entire past 9 months have been vindicated in one single election.
Florida - again...
LaPore - as always...
It's a city council race between a guy named Eric Mangione and incumbent Lester Fields. Mangione lost by 4 votes, which was a landslide - he lost a race in '94 by 1 vote. Damn small town politics!
There are 42 undervotes... All but one of those undervotes were on paperless e-voting systems... One undervote was on paper - an absentee vote.
Ruht roh...
To comply with state law, they performed a recount of the electronic ballots. The totals didn't change. They are left with the absentee ballot. That lonely, single, undervoted absentee ballot.
The canvassing board will look at it (giggle) to see if there are any markings that indicate a clear choice by the voter for a candidate.
Uhhh, where have we heard this one before? The recount is the same? It's a miracle!
Mangione - wasn't going to ask for a recount, went and played tennis instead. Weather good down there at the moment?
He changed his mind after several friends called Thursday.
Imagine them (LePore and friends) all standing around inspecting that one absentee ballot for stray marks and calling it a recount. Then what do they do about the other 41 e-votes in cyberspace?
I can't wait to see what happens next on this one. This is gonna be great. LePore has got to just rolling over and over considering retirement or a heavy dose of valium. And where is Hood with her perfect voting systems that have never failed her voters?
Here was the earlier story:
