Report: White House Sends Senior Official to Iraq

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Bush administration has sent a senior White House official to Baghdad to try and salvage the latest bid to form an interim Iraqi government, the Washington Post reported on Saturday.
The White House official was scheduled to arrive in Iraq this weekend for meetings with the U.S.-appointed Iraqi Governing Council, the Post said, quoting senior U.S. officials.

President Bush will mark the one year anniversary of the invasion of Iraq next week with two major speeches aimed at rallying the troops and shoring up public support for the occupation.
The White House said on Friday that Bush will travel to Fort Campbell, Kentucky to address the troops on Thursday, March 18. The next day, he will give an address in the East Room of the White House. -----------------------
