U.S. Unloading WMD in Iraq
U.S. Unloading WMD in Iraq

(Just in time for the 2004 Diebold s-election) TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) – Over the past few days, in the wake of the bombings in Karbala and the ideological disputes that delayed the signing of Iraq’s interim constitution, there have been reports that U.S. forces have unloaded a large cargo of parts for constructing long-range missiles and weapons of mass destruction (WMD) in the southern ports of Iraq.

A reliable source from the Iraqi Governing Council, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the Mehr News Agency that U.S. forces, with the help of British forces stationed in southern Iraq, had made extensive efforts to conceal their actions.

He added that the cargo was unloaded during the night as attention was still focused on the aftermath of the deadly bombings in Karbala and the signing of Iraq’s interim constitution.

2. So what is the credibility of the Tehran Times?
Also, how does DU categorize that--a liberal vs conservative source?

25. Tehran Times is considered a "conservative" source....
here is a handy link that lists papers by country, with a description of their place in the political spectrum of the country....
Just click on the country and you'll see a list of prominent publications .....

3. If this was somewhat true it would have been disclosed already
There's no way * or Faux News could go without reporting this.

7. As if Faux would note the U.S. occupation's actual actions!
Edited on Sat Mar-13-04 04:41 PM by Lori Price CLG
Odd that the U.S. occupation is called a 'coalition.' LOL. It's a *coalition* of bribed supporters of U.S. hegemony.

Cheers,
Lori Price

4. Check out the bottom of their web page
------Occupation Forces Official Claims to Have No Information About Transfer of WMD to Iraq -------

A security official for the coalition forces in Iraq said that he has not received any information about the unloading of weapons of mass destruction in ports in southern Iraq.

Shane Wolf told the Mehr News Agency that the occupation forces have received no reports on such events, but said he hoped that the coalition forces would find the Iraqi weapons of mass destruction one day.

Coalition forces and inspectors have so far been unable to find any Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. The U.S. invaded Iraq under the pretext that Iraq possessed a stockpile of weapons of mass destruction.

6. If the US is actually trying to plant WMD's...
Edited on Sat Mar-13-04 04:39 PM by htuttle
..I would be certain that Vladimir Putin knows about it already, too. As would the Chinese, probably. A lot of eyes, both in orbit and on the street, are watching for them to try that.

Question is: would they expose Bush for the international kudos, or would there be a price to BushCo for their silence?

12. This would be the perfect time to bring something in
We are in the middle of the biggest rotation of troops and equipment in history. There would be now way to know a shipment of new Humvees from a box of WMD's.

Maybe W is desperate enough to still try to plant WMD's or maybe he want to play Shock and Awe again?

19. Shock and awe, maybe...but * is just trying to win back his base he
has lost due to no WMDs found.

He's lost alot of republicans cheering him on.
The question is whether or not they'll believe him or not.

8. Might be more fun that you'd think.
If they're attempting to plant WMDs now, it might be enormously amusing to watch them explain how they overlooked them for 10-11 months.

Will David Kay say, "Oh, yeah. We didn't look there!"

They'll have to stage it pretty well to meet international scrutiny. I'd expect to see the equipment to manufacture the weapons, the raw materials, etc.

11. The ruse has to only last until
after the Nov elections. The closer the 'find' is to the election, the harder it will be to expose it as a fraud.

13. Sounds like disinformation
The sort of stuff the Republicans do so well, blame the other side for things you do yourself.

Iran has a nuclear program and this may be an issue in the near future, they can claim that they need these weapons to counter the ones that the US planted in Iraq. Plus it keeps the population off balance and unsure, to question would be unpatriotic. Sort of like being in a perpetual state of "war on terror".

They learn so well from us. Now if we can only teach them to Rock and Roll.

14. If that's true...
...thanks to The Tehran Times for printing it and to you for posting it here! The more people read this story the more awkward and unbelievable it becomes for Commander-in-Chief Klink to pop up on the news crowing "Eureka! I have found them!"
I just e-mailed the link to a bunch of friends with that in mind.

This is news that needs some attention to find out if it's credible or not.

17. Thank you, as... it may be disinformation, but what if...
...even a portion of the article is correct? Today, the DoD reported that the U.S. occupation forces are stepping up the sealing of Iraq's borders, which would allow greater flexibility for the U.S. government to act without scrutiny:

CPA Announces Measures to Tighten Border Security in Iraq

By Sgt. 1st Class Doug Sample, USA
American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, March 13, 2004 -- The Coalition Provisional Authority announced a new policy today to tighten border security in Iraq, an effort officials say will help stem the flow of terrorists and foreign fighters entering the country. (NOT!!)

During a briefing from Baghdad, senior coalition spokesman Dan Senor told reporters the new policy calls for "increased personnel, new technology and tighter procedures," beginning at the Iranian border. He said the new policy is the first stage in a multi-stage effort to address security problems at Iraq's porous borders.

Reading a statement issued this morning by CPA administrator (dictator) L. Paul Bremer III, Senor said initiatives in the new border policy call for doubling the security personnel at Iraq's borders, reducing the number of entry points on the Iranian border and hiring more immigration staff officers.

18. They might just be stocking up for the next PNAC war, with Iran or Syria
At the same time, they could plant a few and see how it plays out. If they get caught planting them, they can blame it on Kerry, for knowing how to speak French.

23. well gosh, y'all, the reason we invaded Iraq in the first place was
to have a foothold for a big-ass military presence in the area that wasn't in Saudi Arabia.

We're just arming the hell out of it now so we can throw our weight around the area.

It's basic PNAC 101.
