Venezuela captures bigger drug haul in 2009
Source: Reuters

Venezuela reported on Saturday 60 tonnes of drugs were confiscated in 2009, an 11 percent bigger haul than the previous year, and said anti-narcotics efforts had improved since it ended cooperation with the United States.

The South American nation is a major transit country for Colombian cocaine to Europe and, to a lesser extent, the United States. Cocaine and marijuana accounted for nearly all of Venezuela's drug confiscations in 2009.

Accused by critics of leniency in the drug fight and collusion with Colombian rebels who depend on smuggling for financing, the government of President Hugo Chavez counters that it has stepped up interdiction notably in recent years.

"The 2009 figure shows the government's performance in battling drugs, and makes Venezuela one of the most effective countries in this respect," state news agency ABN said.

3. Nor do I...
Seems to me that it is only fair to applaud what Chavez's government has done here.

I am not a big fan of the war on drugs, but that is what the world consensus currently demands of government's of all nations. Seems to me that Chavez is meeting that demand, and managing to exceed it without US assistance.

4. Now that they get to keep all the profits instead of splitting them with the US...
there's a lot more incentive for them.

5. Their own drug confiscations have improved steadily after Bush's agents left.
They made the right decision, and took an important step away from being captive to US attempts to control Venezuela's government's operations.

6. The Bush's have moved their operations to Dubai.
Plame wasn't the first covert agent Jr. Outed. That was Barry Seals and 32 DEA Agents were killed.

Barry is dead, not relaxing in his car.

The drunk with his elbow on the Mexico City nightclub stage is Felix Rodriguez (friend of George H. W. Bush, involved in the murder of the wounded Che Guevara, next to him, Porter Goss, G.W. Bush's CIA director, and that beaming stupid smile next to Goss belongs to Barry Seal.

Thanks for the information, Wizard777. The story gets even uglier, apparently. Didn't seem possible.

10. The story goes that Barry was selling cocaine to Jr. on Zapata Oil rigs in international waters.
You remember when we had to drop everything we doing an invade Panama? Much like we did with Iraq. That was because Gen. Manuel Noriega was telling everyone in the international community "George Bush is my best cocaine customer." Everyone laughed it off because they thought he was talking about Sr. Back then Jr. wasn't really known. The only Bush brat America was familiar with back then was Marvin who had just single handedly bankrupted the savings and loan industry. Iraq wasn't the first time a Bush used the American military for a private Bush family war. although Iraq was the first time a Bush basically told America in so many words to piss off this war isn't any of your business.
