Pelosi vows to defend House healthcare bill
By Jared Allen and Jeffrey Young - 01/07/10 06:46 PM ET

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday told her caucus she would not let the House be forced into signing off on the Senate’s healthcare bill.

.............

But Pelosi insisted from the onset that the House would not simply accept the Senate bill, despite the extremely fragile coalition that allowed a bill to emerge from the Senate.

.................

At the same time, Pelosi told House liberals that the public option was still among the items under consideration by House, Senate and White House policy staff working on merging the two bills.

Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.), a member of the House Progressive Caucus, said she came away with the assurance that the public option was “still part of the discussion.”

5. Bullshit! Same shit they were telling us for month's keeping us strung along on the public option
Edited on Thu Jan-07-10 07:42 PM by LaPera
Complete bullshit.....lying cocksuckers, they knew there would never be a public option in the end, Obama certainly didn't fight for it....

Now they are just stringing us along some more until the bill is signed.

They'll call it "reform" and tell us shut the fuck up...take what you get....and we' owed too much to the insurance corporations money to ever get a better deal for the tax payers, the worker.

But, sorry, we just didn't have enough votes for a public option.

7. There was NO public option in the House Bill...only a mere strangled shadow

A meaningless, pathetic piece of policy that would apply to only about 5% of the population...

Most likely to be run by the private insurance companies...

And, estimated to cost more then a private plan

Plus the fucking Stupak amendment...

She is fighting for that?

Whoopee

10. If you believe her that the public option is still on the table
Then I got a bridge to nowhere to sell you.

This is all show, the reality is the fragile 60 vote coalition that exists in the Senate.

13. They might be a little worried . . .but wouldn't count on it . . . PO is a "compromise" ...
Edited on Thu Jan-07-10 08:55 PM by defendandprotect
What America wants is single payer/Medicare for All ---

PLUS Medicare is up and running and ready to go -- no 3 year wait while we

pay taxes on an unusable corporate program!!!

Had the Dems gone with Medicare for All and been televising that .... the GOP

would have been forced to go with it!

That's why they had to suppress single payer -- and Public Option was the "compromise."

19. Yeah, they are throwing us a bone alright...
only thing is they keep aiming at our heads.

this bullshit charade has been way over played.

They are doing the opposite of "Protesting too much", they instead keep promising what we want and time and time again fail to deliver. It's the same effect.

So my advice to nancy, harry and the rest is: SHUT THE FUCK UP. Do your goddamn jobs and serve the we the people. When 75% of the public demands a public option and you fail to pass one, you are not doing the job you were elected to do.

I have no problem with giving these failures their pink slips come the next election.
