SAN'A, Yemen -- Yemen's president says he is ready to open a dialogue with members of al-Qaida if they lay down their weapons and renounce violence, despite U.S. pressure to crack down on the terror group.

Ali Abdullah Saleh vows his security forces will track down as many al-Qaida fighters as possible among those who refuse to stop violence.

But he told Abu Dhabi television in an interview aired late Saturday, "we are ready to reach understanding with anyone who renounces violence and terrorism," including al-Qaida.

"dialogue" and "Al Qaeda" in the same sentence.

"What has or is about to happen?"

Edit: multiple times to get the verbiage just right.

2. that's easy, "al-Qai'dah" is the least of his worries
the zaidis and socialists are the real "threat" to his family's private little business called Yemen, "al-Qai'dah" is just a fundraising plot Field Marshal Saleh shops around to the Saudis, zionists, and Americans in exchange for cash--most of which flows directly into his corrupt family's bank accounts. In addition, this is secondarily about securing the succession of his son anyway.
