COLUMBIA, S.C. -- South Carolina state representatives formally reprimanded a governor for the first time Wednesday, admonishing Gov. Mark Sanford for secret trips to see his Argentine mistress and improper use of state aircraft.

The lawmakers voted 102-11 to censure Sanford for bringing "ridicule, dishonor, disgrace and shame" to himself and the state. The rebuke says the two-term Republican was derelict in his duty and abused his power.

what?

These days...and this late...nothing.

It has no direct effect or legal consequence.
The man should have been tossed out on his butt.
He wasn't.

That says just as much about the governing body of SC as it does this characterless man.

Republican Jake Knotts is the one who tabled the censure resolution in the Senate. He is going to investigate other things, including ethics charges. Who knows? We may see an impeachment yet! (Not likely, but anything is possible.)

(On edit: I want more than just Al to hail Senator Knotts.)
