Haiti police round up Aristide associates

Political repression is in full force in Haiti now, and the U.S. is once again supporting and even participating in it and making it possible. I know the U.S. does this regularly, but I never cease to be surprised and even amazed that the "land of the free" carries out this type of political repression, and humanitarian crimes, as well as international crimes.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (Reuters) - Haitian police rounded up supporters of ousted President Jean-Bertrand Aristide over the weekend, and the impoverished Caribbean country's new police chief has warned the jails would be packed in coming weeks.

With the capital aquiver over Aristide's looming return to the Caribbean from Africa, police said the arrests were aimed at all wanted criminals, and not just followers of his Lavalas Family party who remained behind after a month-long armed revolt and U.S. pressure drove him into exile on February 29.

"There's a lot of them" to be arrested, Leon Charles, the new director general of the Haitian National Police, told Reuters.

While Charles and other police officials insisted the arrests were not politically motivated, all six new detainees being held on Sunday at the station in the upscale Port-au-Prince suburb of Petionville were from Lavalas.

As soon as they round up all the people and leaders of political parties that they don't like and repress and terrorize the other members, then BushCo will assert that they have made Haiti "safe for democracy." It's "democracy" according to BushCo -- W, Colin Powell, Rumsfeld, Condi Rice, Dick Cheney, Roger Noriega .. what a group committed to democracy.

Seeing how he is in Jamaica. Maybe he is gonna have some outside help? Maybe he is close so that he can be de-couped.

9. Most people get their news from teevee and mainstream media

they don't have a clue. Aristide is a bad guy and the people of Haiti rose up to oust him. That's what they believe, anyway.

Kucinich has joined the Black Congressional Caucus in requesting an investigation into the events surrounding Aristide's removal.

Heard about that on tee vee yet? You won't, either.

The media's job is to manufacture consent. They're really good at it.
