Brown knocks Coakley for politicking at King Jr. breakfast

The surging GOP U.S. Senate candidate today slammed his Democratic rival for asking for votes while addressing about 1,000 people at the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial breakfast.

State Sen. Scott Brown (R-Wrentham) and Attorney General Martha Coakley began their last full day of campaigning at the annual event, which is sponorsed the United Union Methodist Church and St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church.

The too-close-to-call special U.S. Senate election is tomorrow.

“I certainly didn’t realize that this was a rally for Martha,” said Brown. “I think it’s inappropriate to ask for people’s votes when they’re trying to remember Martin Luther King Jr.”

what Martha said? It's missing form the Boston Herald story.

I have a lot of respect for Coakley and hope she pulls it out tomorrow.

But I have even more respect for Martin Luther King Jr.

During his memorial breakfast is not to place to pander for votes.

7. MLK Day is a day for volunteerism, not politicking

Because the special election is tomorrow, I think that is why there is politicking going on.

I just got home from doing my bit today. Hundreds of students have done 2-4 hours of volunteer work, from picking up trash to feeding the homeless.

While we are at it, text "Haiti" to 90999 and contribute $10 to American Red Cross.

8. I know, I know - it's hard for her to pass up an opportunity to talk about

voting for her tomorrow. It's very important for what we're trying to accomplish for African Americans and all citizens.

It would have been just as easy for Martha to have held a Press Availability immediately AFTER the breakfast to say the
same thing. She would have had an open forum then.

13. Don't believe everything you read in Politico- a Repub enabler- even in quotes.

There is an all out media attack against her-they have been reporting on everything she says and making it appear bad. Yet, Brown never says anything wrong? I doubt it, but it isn't reported on.
I remember how the press misquoted Senator Kerry several times-reporting quotes that really weren't quotes.

That first sentence doesn't even flow correctly.

Brown is a hypocrite.  Which is worse...attending a fundraiser
or posing nude.  If you live in a glass house don't throw
stones.  If Oakley had posed nude for Playboy the GOP would
have their knickers in such a tight wad they would be

15. This must have been his first MLK Breakfast because politicians are

always there every year, and if there were no politics involved they wouldn't be there. And from what I saw on the local news, he wasn't invited to speak which says volumes about him.

16. Scott complains that Martha's campaign is negative. Her ads and hose of Democrats

have stuck to Brown's position on the issues, though. Brown, on the other hand has attacked Martha personally--including by lying that she went negative. Now, he is attacking her personally by knocking her for showing solidarity with MLK's dream.

In truth, a RW group ran an ad lying about Martha, and that was the first negative ad.

Lord, I hate their tactics!
