Spain may withdraw Iraq troopsSpain May Withdraw Iraq Troops
"Spain's Socialist Party prime minister-elect says he will pull troops out of Iraq - unless the UN takes charge.

Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said: "The war in Iraq was a disaster, the occupation of Iraq is a disaster. . . .

he again reiterated his opposition to the US-led war in Iraq, but said his government would maintain what he described as "cordial relations" with Washington.

However Mr Zapatero said President Bush and UK Prime Minister Tony Blair needed to "engage in some self-criticism" over their decision to invade Iraq."

1. How will this turn of events in Spain affect the U.S.?
Badly. Even now you can bet plans have
been put forward for cancellation/accelleration.

This affront to Fascism cannot be allowed to stand.

The politics of the people involved in the intelligence
community are invariably right wing; some openly
espouse fascist views. The new head of MI5,
Eliza Manningham-Buller, is the daughter of Sir
Reginald Manningham-Buller, a former Tory lord
chancellor and attorney general; her appointment
indicates that the traditionalists are dominant in the
security services.

This is not what the bombers had in mind.

3. Aznar is the first to go, given his walking shoes by Zapatero.
We had hoped that it would be Blair.
But the important thing is that Dubya follow Aznar out of office.
