White House still believes Bernanke gets 2nd term
Source: Associated Press

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE – President Barack Obama believes Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke will win a second term, a spokesman said Friday, despite Senate concerns over steps the central bank will take to create jobs.

Deputy press secretary Bill Burton said Obama has "a great deal of confidence" in the actions Bernanke already has taken and believes he is "the best person for the job." The spokesman said the White House believes Bernanke will win another term as chairman.

Burton spoke to reporters traveling with Obama to Ohio for a series of appearances focused on the economy and job creation.

3. Bernanke will be confirmed - either by this Democratic majority or the Republican one coming in.

Obama's refusal to dump this guy and bring in a real 'trickle-up' economist just shows that he's still trying to play the game of giving the People as little as possible. No one is buying it now.

Right now, there are dozens of republicans measuring the drapes for their new congressional offices. They'll be more than happy to confirm Bernanke.

Edited to say: What's interesting is that by forcing congress to give Bernanke a second term, Obama's continuing practices which will ensure that he doesn't get one, himself.

15. Go google Volcker. Look at who he has chosen to associate with.
He is not the best out there by a damn long shot. Don't take my word for it. President Obama can't seem to pick his friends wisely.

18. Volcker saved my butt by killing the inflation monster back
in the 1980's. It does not matter who his friends are. What matters
is the FED Chair do what is right for the country. Volcker has the
brains and the guts to do what is needed. He is not going to be
scared of politics in making the decisions.

Nothing about President Obama's economic team choices or the power of the Federal Reserve inspires any confidence.

I guess as long as you got yours, you will be alright, am I right?

I encourage people to go look for themselves.

Persuade me otherwise.

24. Things could get real scary
Economy will recover sooner or later...it always does
With the record breaking budget deficits, when economy recovers
inflation will be in galloping mode. That is never good for
any one. Once started, the inflation monster will be hard to stop.

Volcker is the only person I know of who has the balls to do what
is necessary to stop inflation in its tracks. Little Timmie Geithner
and professor helicopter Bennie Bernanke do not have the balls to do what is needed.

13.  Fire The Failures & Save The Presidency
By Mark Ames

If President Obama wants to really understand why he got his ass handed to him in the Massachusetts Senate race—a defeat as shocking and strange as if Joe Lieberman was elected president of Iran—he might want to read one of the thousands of economic horror stories happening around the country every day, stories that have put most Americans in a very foul, desperate mood. Like this story out of a small town in northern Indiana, where a casket maker was forced to close down operations and lay off its 50 employees because Americans can no longer afford bury their loved ones, and instead they’re cremating their bodies to save money.

Even the dead are suffering in today’s economy.

The casket-maker, Ampcor, had been operating for almost 50 years, specializing in producing casket handles. Now it’s over—and what little business there still is in the casket industry is being outsourced to cheaper casket handle manufacturers in China, according to a local news report:

23. Blame Woodrow Wilson and his sidekick "Colonel" House!
The "Fed", a.k.a. "The Creature fron Jekyll
Island" is just another chapter of U.S. history that is
never presented, analyzed or debated in American History
classrooms. It is the proverbial third rail. The 1913
marginalization of the U.S. Treasury is a page that has been
ripped out of textbooks.

22. I think they are wrong. I just read that there is a populist
backlash against Bernanke among Democrats in Congress. This Brown thing seems to be giving them a backbone or maybe they realize that just going along with the party when they are wrong, won't work in November.
