State jobless rates on the rise
Source: CNN

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- A total of 43 states reported rising jobless rates in December, reversing signs of improvement seen the month before, according to a government report released Friday.

Overall, jobless rates increased in those states and the District of Columbia last month and fell in four states, according to the Labor Department's monthly report on state unemployment. Three states reported no change.

In November, 36 states reported a monthly decrease in the unemployment rate.

"This reversal is so surprisingly negative that it causes us to be cautious," said Craig Thomas, senior economist at PNC. "This report has been unreliable, and it tends to miss turning points."

1. Yet how much do you want to bet that our Corporate Masters will have their M$M spin it POSITIVE?
It's insane how they have to reach deep down to fine any old silver-lining. "Well at least most of your peasants are not standing in soup lines. Stan? Back to you for Weather."

2. Who'd like a double-dip?
Recession, that is.

A 'stimulus' bill containing 40% tax cuts isn't likely to offer much in the way of long term economic stability. Tax cuts mean nothing to those with no income so only those who make the most profit, and they either keep the cash or invest it overseas where they can exploit workers and gain more wealth than the US.

Obama needs to focus on jobs. Immediately. And not burger-flipping 'service industry' jobs but real production jobs that create tangible wealth for this country. We've seen the effects of destroying our industries in favor of pushing paper. Let's get back to producing goods!

4. No kidding?

Hmm..no kidding, eh?

"Surprising"??? Are you kidding me! And what "improvement" were they specifically pointing to?

Of course, this "recovery" rhetoric continues to be complete nonsense from the mainstream press and voices in this country, who essentially have their heads in the sand, and are instead all focused on Wall Street bank reforms, while ignoring the huge elephant in the room that is declining wages for the past 30+ years. The disaster that is so-called "Free Trade".

I've been saying this for over two years. We ain't seen nothing yet, this isn't some cyclical thing, and there will be no "turn-around". This is a decades-long slide to the bottom that is self-perpetuating and accelerating by the year, and we've got a very, very long ways to go before we even get close to having a "bottom" in sight. Not for decades yet.

And this wasn't caused by derivatives trading or any of the other scapegoat talking points about Wall Street bankers.

This is due to a 30+ year war on wages in this country, led by corporations and enabled by our legislative prostitutes, kicked into high gear by NAFTA and subsequent traitorous trade policies at the behest of these corporations.

Good paying jobs for the masses, gone. Manufacturing, gone. Leading exporter, gone. Strong economy, gone!

And now that our SCOTUS has cemented corporate control of our government, there is no possible way things will ever turn around in this country. It's game over for everyone but the super rich.

Without rising wages - which clearly will never happen - nothing can possibly turn around for our economy, and the periodic reports of this or that improvement are insignificant "happy talk" for the masses. Because the net direction continues to be down, and at an ever accelerating pace, and this has been obvious for the past few years.

More jobs lost...ya think?

9. Has anyone ever made a hiring decision based on "helping" or "hurting" a President's image?
That seems unlikely, to put it mildly.

8. Yet an OBSCENE amount of money is being spent in the Mideast...
Boatloads and truckloads and pallets of cash stacked high.

They are giving it away to war lords and foreign governments and mercenaries... even handing it out to villagers to "win their hearts and minds".

Meanwhile, back at home, they are arresting people for sleeping in tents.. people who have lost their jobs, their homes and more importantly... their dignity.

If there is a god.. there has to be a special hell for politicians, bankers and neocons.
