'Bin Laden tape' says al-Qaeda behind Christmas plot

A tape said to be from Osama Bin Laden says al-Qaeda was responsible for a Christmas plot to blow up a plane.

In the newly released audio tape aired on al-Jazeera, Bin Laden also warns the US there will be more attacks if it continues to support Israel.

"If it was possible to carry our messages to you by words we wouldn't have carried them to you by planes," the tape says.

The authenticity of the tape has not been verified.

20. It's because AQ videos were being analyzed for locational clues.

The vids stopped after a "major US newspaper" described how intelligence analysts used rock strata shown in the background to help geolocate where the tape was made. Rather like the incident a few years earlier when news accounts of how US intelligence was intercepting AQ satphone transmissions caused that source to disappear.

My guess is there are other, esoteric visual clues that can also be analyzed.

I don't know if OBL is alive or not. I doubt it. Either way, from what humint revealed about OBL media operations, a decision was made by AQ in 2004 that there was less intel and propaganda upside in releasing vids than there was downside. This would be true regardless of authenticity.

Most of the ignorati on this thread can't imagine that there could be a range of subtle clues in a vid, or think the only possible clue could be defeated by a sheet, so they take their ignorance as proof that their political narrative is true.
