Bomb Attacks On Iraq Hotels Kill At Least 36

Three massive blasts have killed at least 36 people and injured scores more in attacks on three Baghdad hotels popular with Westerners, Iraqi police have said.

The first bomb in the car park of the Sheraton Hotel toppled a concrete wall designed to protect the property and damaged a number of neighbouring buildings.

Minutes later two more car bombs struck near the Babylon Hotel and al Hamra Hotel, which is popular with Western journalists.

Iraqi authorities are searching for survivors in a number of houses that collapsed near the Hamra hotel.

3. Troops or no troops, there will always be bombings in Iraq. Thanks to the clusterf**k we made.

No matter how many billions you can throw into that furnace or whatever motivating BS speech they say, it was all a corrupt contractor tax money funnel. The only reason that the rethugs are pissed about the withdrawl is that the money faucet is being shut off.

Plus Iraq wasn't even a nation founded by the people. It was drawn up by colonial powers and their indigenous elite educated collaborators. Without any consideration to the cultural or religious divisions of that area.

6. Coordinated attacks on 3 Baghdad hotels kill at least 31

Militants bombed three hotel compounds in eastern Baghdad today.

The coordinated attacks, which took place within minutes of one another, targeted facilities that host political events and are home to businessmen and news agencies. It was the latest high-profile attack in Baghdad ahead of national elections in early March.

At least 31 people were killed and 89 wounded in the bombings, according to security officials. The first car bomb exploded by the Sheraton in eastern Baghdad at 3:40 p.m.

The blast was quickly followed by an explosion outside of the Babylon hotel, where the government and political parties hold meetings. Soon after, a car bomb blasted the Hamra hotel compound, home to several international news agencies, including the Los Angeles Times.
