Schwarzenegger's budget plan puts unions in the cross-hairs
Source: Los Angeles Times

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has put organized labor squarely in his cross-hairs in 2010, opening a fight that will largely determine the shape of his final year in office.

Schwarzenegger's proposals would cut the size of the union workforce, reduce pay, shrink future pensions and roll back job protections won through collective bargaining.

Labor and the unions' Democratic allies are already girding for battle.

"It's a continuing jihad against organized labor," said Steve Maviglio, a Sacramento-based Democratic strategist. "The governor thinks public employee unions are Enemy No. 1."

What I have to say about Schwarzenegger and his continuing worthless existence is not possible to post on DU.

1. Response from Mark Leno (D - SF) :
"I did take note that in his State of the State address said that we had only Sophie's choices," said Sen. Mark Leno (D-San Francisco). "Do we harm seniors, do we harm the disabled, do we harm the poor? But you didn't hear him suggest there were tax loopholes we could close to pinch corporations."

11. This is why Democrats lose the message war!
You don't "effing" say "Harm the seniors, harm the disabled, harm the poor, or close tax loopholes to pinch corporations"

You "effing" say; He's giving us the options of hurting seniors, the disabled, the middle class and the poor, but HE SAYS NOTHING ABOUT RAISING TAXES ON THE TOP 5% OF WEALTH HOLDERS IN THIS STATE WHO HAVE BEEN GIVEN A GILDED THRONE OVER THE PAST 30 YEARS. It's time that those that benefit the most from the free market economy of California, the one's with 7 houses and 15 cars and trust funds and million dollar bonus' to go back to the tax rates of 25 years ago"

Why there is not a General Strike in this country is completely beyond me. Want to get these pricks attention???? Let the garbage start rotting for a couple of months.

I don't live in California, but it's the same shit all over America. They value nothing but wealth, and not the "effing" labor it takes to create that wealth. At what point do we shut it all down??

19. "Let the garbage start rotting for a couple of months."
So...everyone who's not rich can suffer, if that's what it takes to get the attention of rich people who you feel don't pay enough tax. Frankly, I don't see how this is any better than Schwarzenegger's cost-slashing approach, since the burden will fall just as surely on the least wealthy and powerful.

Who he didn't like or had a vendetta against for McCarthy's blacklist.

17. It's how he met Nancy......
"During her career as an actress, Nancy Davis dated actors in Hollywood; she later called Clark Gable, whom she dated briefly, the nicest of the stars she had met.<14> On November 15, 1949, she met Ronald Reagan,<35> who was then president of the Screen Actors Guild. Nancy had noticed that her name had appeared on the Hollywood blacklist and sought Reagan's help to maintain her employment as a guild actress in Hollywood, and for assistance in having her name removed from the list.<14> Reagan informed her that she had been confused with another actress of the same name.<14>

The two began dating and their relationship was the subject of many gossip columns; one Hollywood press account described their nightclub-free times together as "the romance of a couple who have no vices".<35> Ronald Reagan was skeptical about marriage, however, following his painful 1948 divorce from Jane Wyman, and he still saw other women.<35>

After three years of dating, he eventually proposed to Davis in the couple's favorite booth at the Beverly Hills restaurant Chasen's.<35> They married on March 4, 1952 in a simple ceremony designed to avoid the press<36> at the Little Brown Church in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. The only people in attendance were actor William Holden, the best man, and his wife, the matron of honor.<35><37>

The couple's first child, Patricia Ann Reagan (better known by her professional name, Patti Davis), was born on October 21, 1952. Their son, Ronald Prescott Reagan, was born six years later on May 20. Nancy Reagan also became stepmother to Maureen Reagan (1941–2001) and Michael Reagan (born 1945), the children of her husband's first marriage to Jane Wyman."

5. Ah HA = SCOTUS Campaign Finance decision
Stuff like this, as I have been RANTING for a week, relates to the decision by the SCOTUSActivistJudge5 and Campaign Finance.

All news reports spewed about how UNIONS and (tiny lettering here) corporations can now spend all they like.

But...not one word about how union membership has been reduced by what, hundreds of thousands whislt the mega-super-duper-worldwide-monster corporations with their bazillions of dollars have grown?

And now this dolt is trying this crap?

America...ya better wake up and pull your head out of a Teabagg'n ass, 'cause there's a problem here!

14. Thank God for Democrats
Edited on Mon Jan-25-10 07:49 PM by NeoConsSuck
While a RepubliKan governor is trying to take down a state government union, the Democrats are trying to help them. Ask yourself: Would Bush and his tribe of NeoCons ever look out for State workers?

The plan, to be presented to Senate Democrats tomorrow, also would include aid to state governments to prevent layoffs and additional funding for infrastructure projects, said the senator, who asked not to be identified.
