Drudge: GLOBE CLAIMS TAPE RECORDED KERRY 'MORE' LEADERS NOT 'FOREIGN'
GLOBE REPORTER CLAIMS TAPE RECORDED KERRY 'MORE' LEADERS NOT 'FOREIGN' LEADERS; TRANSCRIPTION SCREW-UP... A BOSTON GLOBE reporter at the center of a growing controversy over comments made by John Kerry last week in Florida now claims he "screwed-up" -- and John Kerry never bragged how 'foreign leaders" privately backed his presidential bid!

Oh, Nevermind.... how much attention you think this will get?

21. Glen Johnson made an ass of himself trying to sell "Gore is a liar"
Edited on Mon Mar-15-04 09:46 PM by papau
So now we have the same Glen Johnson of the Boston Globe, whose clownish attempts to make Gore a Big Liar made a joke of the Globe during Campaign 2000, trying to sell a second version of his crap -

if the first version -John Kerry bragged how 'foreign leaders" privately backed his presidential bid - just get's folks nodding their heads and agreeing, then we try

Glen Johnson will try to sell John Kerry bragged how 'more'leaders" privately backed his presidential bid - and see if any dirt sticks.

I do love the ethics of the Globe and the anti Dem media whores they employ!!

2. One thing American voters will not tolorate.
Foreign governments attempting to interfere with the election here. Like when Gorbachove preferred Reagan, etc etc.

Don't think Kerry would be dumb enough to fall into that trap. If he did say something like that it is a major major fupaaa

You know, I tend to look at these types of stories and think "who cares?"

And then I meet some otherwise (seemingly) reasonable person who firmly believes that the UN is coming to eat our children, and the EU is a sign of the apocalypse.

why would kerry refuse to refute this if he said "more" like this reporter is correcting?

kerry better hope to god that he didn't say "more" because it's going to be latched on to even more.

Just an other dumb wedge issue. And yes, the world does hate Bush. And I really doubt Kerry is dumb enough to accept money from other countries. But - thats what the careless for humanity, money loving solder killing, chicken hawks will try to pin on him.

18. I think you hit the nail on the head!
Who exactly is bringing us this slop to eat at the public trough? First they say Kerry said he "met" with the leaders, so the machine questioned "when & where", then, he refused to name names, and now the media is bringing out a transcription error? Someone hand me a tinfoil hat! This is like an episode of the Twilight Zone, or more appropriately, Abbot & Costello's "Who's on First".

Wake me when Drudge changes his mind for the 50th time and just wiggles his way out of this... "Developing".. Developing my ass. "Making more shit up" is more like it.

That "Developing" disclaimer is how he'd defend himself in any action brought against him for spouting pure crap.
What a dickhead he is.

32. It happened early on Gore's campaign though, didn't it?
I recall a similar scenario anyway. Statement was printed and later retracted as an "error" but by then it had already become fully-inserted as a mainstream talking point. After that the hate radio-mongers just took it and ran with it.

31. The AP story with the "foreign" quote is on the Kerry web site.

If it was a misquote, you'd think they'd be the ones to know and not post it.

33. kerry never refuted it and here is a quote from sunday 3/14/04-
"I'm not going to betray a private conversation with anybody," he said Sunday. "I have heard from people, foreign leaders elsewhere in the world who don't appreciate the Bush administration and would love to see a change in the leadership of the United States."

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040315/ap_on_el_pr/kerry_20

Pressed on the campaign trail and by reporters to name the leaders, Kerry declined, although he said they were U.S. allies.

"I'm talking about people who were our friends nine months ago," said Kerry. "I'm talking about people who ought to be on our side in Iraq (news - web sites) and aren't because this administration has pushed them away."

35. This is playground politics. It's fodder for the mindless. And it works.
The Globe may have been the one that started the mantra that Gore is a liar 4 years ago. But that campaign worked against Gore. It's sad and incredible, but true. To cast Gore, a basic Boy Scout, as a teller of tall tales, and portray Bush, an inveterate liar, as full of integrity sounds laughable. BUT, it worked.

This is an issue that calls out to other (US) Democratic leaders to chime in with Kerry and support him.

36. Where are the people who should have Kerry's back?
Damn it! Why the hell are other Dem leaders so silent. They need to speak out in support of this obvious, simple truth. The world hates Bush. That's a simple fact. It's no stretch to say this at all.

Why, also, doesn't Hans Blix say he agrees with Kerry?

Bush is getting headlines on this which are the first step in defining Kerry as a liar--just like they did to Gore. Where is his support? DAMN IT! Are they going to leave him to twist in the wind just like they did to Gore?

37. being reported on MSNBC
just a tidbit but.it'll all come out.and the GOPers owe Kerry an apology....

Why Kerry did not catch this is for him and his campaign to figure out.....but one has to admit that he did get the headlines all weekend with this statement and it didn't cost him any money.now he can fight back with the "misquote statement" as bush and cheney do so very well...

38. Has this tape been played in the national cable media TV?
I heard the tape tonight on my local new. Kerry very clearly said "more" not foreign. The globe reporter still has a copy of the tape and I don't understand why it was not played on the national level. I don't have cable so I don't know if any of those channels have played the actual tape in Kerry's voice. If not why not?

39. Hate Radio Was Spinning Even This Media Mistake Against Kerry
I listened to a couple of psychotic drama queens on the radio who both tried to spin this the same way. In effect they were saying 'so what' if the media made a mistake and wrongly attributed the word "foreign" instead of "more" to Kerry. Kerry, they say, nonetheless is defending his words by not retracting what he "didn't" say. They're saying he should have been the first to point out the mistake. Therefore, Kerry is now being spun as a shifting, unreliable, mental case. One local Los Angeles hate radio talk show host has even suggested that Kerry may have some form of mental illness.
