Honduras says it will follow Spain's lead, withdraw troops from Iraq in June; El Salvador to stay put

FREDDY CUEVAS, Associated Press Writer
Tuesday, March 16, 2004

(03-16) 09:49 PST TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (AP) --

Honduras plans to follow Spain's lead and withdraw 370 troops from a Spanish-led humanitarian and peacekeeping brigade in June, Defense Secretary Federico Breve said Tuesday.

The decision marked an about-face from the day before, when President Ricardo Maduro said he would not pull his soldiers from Iraq.

Tuesday's announcement "coincides with the decision of the prime minister-elect of the Spanish government," Breve said.

Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, the socialist candidate who won Spain's elections Sunday, has called the Iraq invasion an error, and said he would recall Spanish troops from Iraq by June 30 unless the United Nations assumes control of multinational military operations there.

1. Ha Ha - Coalition of the bribed is falling apart
And its interesting exactly how many troops each contributed! Glad we didn't have to fight WWII with this ratio.

Anyone have a list of what each member of the coalition of the swilling provided? Always amazes me when people like Limbaugh and Hannity trots out the nations in the coalition with a straight face.

19. Seven or eight, I believe.
I already took my sacks in...

to explain...I picked up paper sacks at church on Sunday, 20 of them. They are for making luminarios at our Mar 20 MEMORIAL FOR THE DEAD. My sacks were Polish and Spanish dead. Each sack was marked with the name and country of the dead person...But I filled them with sand and took them to our collection point so that about 800 sacks would be ready and all we would have to do is put the candle in each, put the luminario out and light the candle. So I don't have the sacks anymore or I could count them.

13. Don't laugh Bush will pay them with our money.
Where does he get all that money he spends. I swear no other president has spent money like this. Congress used to over see the money.

21. It sounds like The Netherlands are wavering
Or is it merely a coincidence that the Dutch prime minister was in DC today?

http://www.reuters.com/locales/newsArticle.jsp?type=worldNews&locale=en_IN&storyID=4580901

"It's essential that we remain side-by-side with the Iraqi people," Bush told reporters during a meeting with Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende.

20. Nicaragua already pulled out their troops . . . too broke
from the sfgate article:

Nicaragua sent about 115 soldiers, mostly sappers and medical personnel, to Iraq last September to join the brigade. Those troops have since returned, and the government announced last month that it lacked sufficient funding for a second contingent.

,..."you are either with us or against us"!!! Slowly, it seems, the whole world is demonstrating it is against us (our leadership, that is)!
