(Grand Rapids, March 16, 2004, 1:18 p.m.) Efforts to reign in Grand Rapid's expected $33 million budget shortfall continue.

Commissioners approved cuts Tuesday to one of the city's most costly departments; the police department.

As 24 Hour News 8 has reported, the department will cut 40 positions, 23 of which are already open.
