House, Senate part ways over adjournment [VA]

The Republican-dominated Virginia General Assembly appears ready to depart Richmond without passing a budget, for the second time in two biennia. The last time this happened, Democrats won the governorship. Obviously, that was not enough to end this disgusting spectacle in Richmond, in which the GOP shows itself unfit to govern. Many thousands of Virginians are now facing the possibility that their jobs will not exist as of July 1 if there is a government shut down.

2. Gonna try that old "Newtonian temper tantrum" trick, huh?
I hope Mark Warner hangs 'em out to dry on this one...all it's going to do is:

1) Ensure Tim Kaine wins the governorship in 2005;

2) Give the Commonwealth back at least a Dem. Senate in 2005--despite all that GOP jerrymandering;

3) Also ensure that Warner beats George Allen, Jr. in 2006.

As if an oaf like Jim Gilmore wasn't bad enough...the Repubs there are continuing to paint themselves into a pretty tight corner...here's hoping they have to STAY in it for a good while!:D

B-)

3. I really really really want your prediction #3 to come true.
Did I mention that I can't stand that Smirky faced George Allen.

Gov. Warner has had a lot of tough decisions to make and has not made everyone happy. We have all had to tighten our belts, including the Governor who refused to accept the raise he was voted.
When the real recovery happens (after Kerry is elected), Virginia will be in good shape while others are still struggling to recover. I hope people appreciate him when they go to the polls in 06. Maybe they will see that Virginia has been a very fiscally responsible commonwealth.

4. Unbelievable

I have read Gov Warner's budget, it is not bad. In my area (southeastern VA)many of the local politicians are very angry. Many of the Republicans in Richmond are trying to do what the federal government is doing to the rest of the country. They have signed this no tax no matter what letter. It makes me so mad, if that is all they can do, we don't need them in office.
We need people willing to work for the people in Virginia, not put up some stupid no tax response and expect the locals to live with the consequences.
I had a great representative in Bobby Scott until a bazaar redistricting. Now, I have some republican from Va Beach and I am 50 miles away in a small rural area.
Ditto on the G Allen comment.
