Iran Jundullah leader claims US military support
Source: BBC News

Iranian state television has broadcast a statement by a captured Sunni rebel leader in which he alleges he had American support.

It is not possible to say whether the man, Abdolmalek Rigi, made the statement freely or under coercion.

The US has denied having links with the group, Jundullah.

In the tape, Mr Rigi alleged the US had promised to provide his group with military equipment and a base in Afghanistan, near the Iranian border.

1. Don't look for this story in the US corporate media
but you can bet your ass that it's front-page news in the middle east & elsewhere. Personally, I don't doubt that some US entity was fomenting trouble in Iran. What choice does the Obama administration have other than denial? I recall that the Bay of Pigs invasion was denied to the heavens when it first happened, but that debacle was impossible to deny.

4. At present only the BBC seem to be covering it.
Might be an idea to google the headline later your time and see what comes up elsewhere.

If found to be true I'd think it could prove to be very damaging - countries which support terror groups blah blah......

9. I'm sure they're getting funds
through a back door.

Nice find - I'd tried again this morning and blanked.

2. It is entirely possible to state that he made the statement under coercion.
But it is also possible to think that it is likely to be a true statement.

6. Hee hee...
Sort of saw this coming on Tuesday.

Recap: there are two Jundullahs, Rigi's brother said the same thing when he was captured (by Iran), and both are now likely on Iranian death row.

No, you won't be seeing much of this story, any more than Rigi's brothers' a few years back. :D
