Park Service Cutting Budgets Quietly

By JOHN HEILPRIN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - National park superintendents are being told to cut back on services — possibly even closing smaller, historic sites a couple days a week or shutter visitor centers on federal holidays — without letting on they are making cuts.

Former employees of the National Park Service, critical of how cuts are being handled, released on Wednesday a memo e-mailed last month to park superintendents in the Northeast from the Park Service's Boston office.

The sneaky bastards won't be happy until they have shut down or privatized every public park in this country and probably in the world, too.

1. This is the beginning of the dismantling of our national treasures.
I weep for this tragedy.

In my lifetime, I have been fortunate to visit several of our National Parks. My personal favourite is Yosemite...with Yellowstone a close second. But, I fear they will all be gone in 100 years-or less!

:-(

2. And sell them to the highest bidder
Some people look at our parks with a greedy eye. They see the treasure laid up in OUR lands and will not rest until they have roaded, logged and mined ever last bit of the People's parks. In the east, their efforts are about to pave a road into the largest tract of wildness, in the Great Smokies National Park, in North Carolina. Ya know, every place they build a road development is sure to follow.

Leave comments at that site. Be sure to ask that they leave the National Park Lands just as they are, Wild.

3. The same is happening here in CA....
My Mom does taxes for a CA state park ranger and his word is Arnie is cutting back HARD on the budget, and eventually wants to have only volunteers running our park service!

Damn Arnie and damn Bush.
