WARSAW (AFP) - Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski said that his country had been "taken for a ride" about the alleged existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. snip

"That they deceived us about the weapons of mass destruction, that's true. We were taken for a ride," Kawsniewski said Thursday.

He argued however that it made no sense to pull US-led coalition troops out of Iraq.

29. One of my friends is a lawyer for the opposition party in Poland
He said that the president only signed on because bush promised free military hardware. He said the president and his administration are very corrupt.

He also thinks bush is a total nutcase. Not sure if he meant bush is crazy, or a scrotum.

You are probably right.

Although, I question the need for this hardware right now.

But then with the Russians still to the east--- it makes sense.

36. There was a joke circulating a year ago
The joke went, when Saddam Hussein found out how much Bush was willing to give to Turkey in order to use it as a base of operations, he said -- "Hell! If I knew money like THAT was involved, I'd have let them use Baghdad!"

You can bribe a ragtag army of a few hundred foreign soldiers and call it a Coalition, but it's still a ragtag army of just a few hundred soldiers who are their for the bribes. Much in the "You can dress up a pig and call it Monique" mode.

32. It is about more than just oil for Poland
Rumsfeld and the Pentagon neo's have been pushing for a realignment with NATO forces. It's worth billions of dollars per year for Poland to to keep kissing Cheney's ass (we already have a poodle). I just loved Kerry's quote the other day: "The coalition of the coerced and bribed." HO true.

Let's see -- Spain pulled out, the Netherlands pulled out, the President of Poland is speaking out against Bush's war, and now Italy.

Let's see -- who's left in "New Europe"? -- Albania. Anyone else?

Thank heavens these people have the good sense to admit they made a mistake. Now it's time for the American people to do the same.

48. Pond Scum?
While it may be messy, it's rarely dangerous. The only way they are lower than pond scum is if a radioactive waste dump is below that pond. That's why Nader really pisses me off. To equate the Democrats (even Sen. Miller) with the current brand of rebulicanism is more of a lie that all of what's spewed from the (ultra) white house for the last three years.

Smegma comes to mind though...

Suddenly, all of our most important European members of the coalition except the U.K. are speaking truth about this invasion.

This is a great turn of events! Perhaps the boy-King will feel the sting of truth from across the Atlantic.

on edit: More leaders are feeling free to begin criticism partly because they see Dumbya's time running out as Kerry's star rises.

It is a beautiful thing to see the truth in print. Too damn bad our own government doesn't have the balls to confront this mis-administration.

14. Time for Poodle to pull out...
Admit it was a mistake. Bush hates the Blair administration anyways. They'd love to see the labor party turfed and the more hardline conservatives in power anyways.

Fox and the other American networks railed on and on about British support for this war. It would make a much larger impact on the American public to see Britain step out then all the Spains, Italy's and Honduras of the world...

The Decline and Fall of Empires
(snip)
"These are ten stories of sinking ships, and ships usually harbor rats known to leave sinking ships. But who are the rats, and what do they do after leaving the sinking ship? They probably do not leave to drown, but possibly to find a new ship and a new life?

The immediate answer would be to find a new ship, although some rats may prefer dignified suicide to a life in the ruins of their own creation. There are exceptions like the captain of the sinking ship, the last one to leave even at the risk of joining the ship on its way down. Like ship captain, like captain of the state ship, the head of state. In principle. But in fact he often prefers escape and ends up as a monarch in exile, unable to find new ships. Better a life in faded splendor than death or suicide.

But we are thinking of more dynamic rats, not of aristoc-rats or bureauc-rats, but of creative clergy and intellectual rats, and indeed entrepreneurial merchant rats. Each imperial decline creates its exodus and its diaspora. The question is, what kind of talent left, and where did they go? Regardless of the answer, this is clearly an illustration of Buddhist rebirth rather than Hindu reincarnation, let alone Christian eternal life.

The system does not reincarnate with many of its original features intact. By dying the system liberates creative energy, in the form of a diaspora which then starts working somewhere else. The obvious prognosis would be <1> given reasonable conditions they will probably succeed, <2> if or when there is no success they will probably leave the new sinking ship. Once a rat always a rat.

25. He should start thinking AGAIN ..
These statements do NOT back up his sudden "lights on" statement!

From the link:

<snip>
"If we protest against the United States' dominant role in world politics and we withdraw our troops knowing they will be replaced by US soldiers, what would be the point of such a move?" he questioned.

"We cannot alter our mission to stabilize Iraq to one to destabilize the country," he said.

"Passiveness will lead us nowhere," he added.
<snip>

Replaced by US soldiers? Why is that an issue for him? Even more to the point there are NOT more US soldiers to put into the hole that his troops would leave.

Stabliize Iraq? It is destabilized thanks to his brain not functioning in the beginning and now he wants to make it worse by NOT pulling out? Staying has accomplished what so far? The removal of Saddam ONLY! He could at least say that if the UN is NOT given full control as of June 30th then they would pull out or does he have something to lose if he pulls out? I think that IS the reason he is being flakey is that either this cabal has him over a barrel.

Passiveness?! Please!!!! You can be FAR FROM PASSIVE without murdering people and being bullies!! Grow up and evolve!!!!
