AP Health Care Poll: Only FOUR PERCENT Of Americans Don't Want Any Reform

WASHINGTON: Americans and their lawmakers are dramatically out of sync on health care, with large majorities of people looking for bipartisan cooperation that's nowhere in sight.

A new Associated Press-GfK Poll finds a widespread hunger for improvements to the health care system, which suggests President Barack Obama and his Democratic allies have a political opening to push their plan. Half of all Americans say health care should be changed a lot or "a great deal," and only 4 percent say it shouldn't be changed at all.

But they don't like the way the debate is playing out in Washington, where GOP lawmakers unanimously oppose the Obama-backed legislation and Democrats are struggling to pass it by themselves with narrow House and Senate majorities.

More than four in five Americans say it's important that any health care plan have support from both parties. And 68 percent say the president and congressional Democrats should keep trying to cut a deal with Republicans rather than pass a bill with no GOP support.

In my line of work I hear all the time how this bill is the biggest piece of shit because of no public option, mandates to require people to buy insurance from the assholes who keep raising rates, and mostly, people don't believe the govt that it wont add to the national debt, like one patient put to me, since when has the govt run anything that didn't cost the taxpayers more than the govt told us.

After reading your post I decided to check out the Tea Party's web site. With a DUer vigorously defending his tea-bagger buddies, I thought it best to verify for myself. Here's a brief synopsis of what I found:

The Tea Party is all about excessive taxation, excessive government spending (on social programs, of course), Sarah Palin, opposition to government intervention into the operations of private business, and all things right-wing. They have a video on their home page that defends GW Bush while vilifying Obama in terms of fiscal responsibility. They have another video on their front page entitled ""Reagan Warns About Socialized Health Care".

But for the best snapshot of what they are all about, here are lyrics from their "Anthem". Yeah, they even wrote an "American Tea Party Anthem":

Your stimulus is sure to bust.
It's just a socialistic scheme,
The only thing it will do
Is kill the American Dream.
You wanna take from achievers

Wow! After spending awhile on their site, my gag reflex started acting up, I felt like I needed to take a shower, and my brain was screaming for mercy, so I left. Unfortunately, what has been seen cannot be unseen, so thanks to you, I'll probably have nightmares tonight as my brain tries to heal itself from the exposure to the horror I witnessed. I haven't seen so much right-wing propaganda since I ventured into that hell known as of Freeper-land for a few minutes several years back (just to see the freak-show). The tea-bagger site was a menagerie of anti-Democratic, Fox-News-like, Pro-Republican, right-wing trash. Yet you defend this idiocy? Look... I, too, have comrades who are tea-baggers. They're competent to do their jobs too, just like your buddies. But I don't delude myself into believing they're something they're not. When it comes to political ideology, they tend to be narrow-minded, self-centered, mean-spirited, authority-worshiping, idiots - because that's the type of people the tea-bagger movement attracts. I've always thought it a HUGE mistake to have an 'us vs them' against our fellow and sister Americans. We have to talk and listen because peoples minds do change, given information as well as changes in personal circumstances.

I always said that when it all comes down to it, we are all Americans and this Us vs Them does nothing but create bad blood. I belong to the Moderate wing of the Democratic Party, Not all Repub. ideas are bad, just like not all Dem ideas are good. there has to be a middle ground somewhere. are so right. There have been several times I have tried to defend my tea party co-workers and have been severly insulted by people who don't even know me or my co-workers. In my line of work, you learn to trust and respect the person going into a burning structure with you and at that point, all politics go out the window.

But as I said before, they are not radicals who want to destroy the country, they agree with some of the Dems position and they are willing to let Pres. Obama give it a try. Their biggest complaints are the bail outs to companies that got us into this mess in the first place and on the HCR bill the biggest thing is the mandate to buy ins. from the idiots that keep raising our rates, and the deficit which they fear is going to impact their children and their children's children.
