French Basques Raid U.S. Iraq Administrator's Home
French Basques Raid U.S. Iraq Administrator's Home

SAINT-JEAN-DE-LUZ, France (Reuters) - A group of French Basques Thursday stormed the grounds of the holiday home of Paul Bremer, the U.S. chief administrator in Iraq (news - web sites), to protest against the American-led invasion of the country.

Around 15 members of the left-wing Basque nationalist movement Abertzaleen Batasuna (AB) clambered over the gates and let off fireworks and firecrackers during a 20-minute raid on Bremer's residence in this southwestern town.

"We wanted to symbolize the war the United States imposed on the Iraqi people," said a spokesman for the group who did not want to be identified.

"We wanted to carry out this operation on the holiday home of Paul Bremer because this is where he comes to forget the war in Iraq, and we want to remind him that when he comes here to rest, the bombs continue to fall on the Iraqi people."

Anti-war groups are organizing a global day of action against war Saturday, the first anniversary of the invasion of Iraq which toppled Saddam Hussein (news - web sites).

no kidding... I wonder how the repube moran masses feel about that
I'm sure they will come up with an excuse why that's ok, but why a breakfast toast named after an AMERICAN has to be re-named to preserve democracy

18. Scum like BREMER grew up like this
They live in gated communities. They have armored limousines. They drive exotic cars, when they feel its safe. Most of them remain relatively low key.

Their Lear jets whisk them away to St Bart's St. Kitt's and other exotic places.

Their children attend private finishing schools and later attend Harvard, Yale, Brown etc.

They go from government jobs at the DOD, Justice or positions in the executive branch , directly to private industry. (and sometimes vice versa)

Plastic surgeons are at their beck and call if the jowels sag or they need botox here or there.

The only minorities they deal with are people economically similar who know their place.

They are generally beautiful sophisticated people.

Their children will never know the draft, poverty or want of any kind, the best medical care is their right.

Someday at the hands of a mob they may be ripped to pieces.

4. A holiday home in France???
Are they also secretly eating French Fries instead of Freedom Fries?
Are they shipping in wine from California or are they drinking French wine. Does Bush Inc. know about that?

What has Bushies world come to. Not even his own people obey his orders to punish the French for their disobedience

12. a bit of history on Bremer seems appropriate
http://www.cpa-iraq.org/bios/

Prior to being in Iraq, Ambassador Bremer was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Marsh Crisis Consulting Company, a crisis management firm owned by the financial services firm Marsh & McLennan. From 1989 to 2000, he was Managing Director of Kissinger Associates, a strategic consulting firm headed by former Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger.
