WASHINGTON - Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., announced Monday that he plans to vote against the companion health care bill that would eliminate Nebraska's Medicaid exemption, derided by critics as the "Cornhusker Kickback."

Nelson reiterated his support for the main health care bill approved in December by the Senate, which included the extra Medicaid funding and which is expected to be signed Tuesday by President Barack Obama.

Nelson touted the benefits of that bill, which will extend coverage to millions of Americans. It also will stop insurance companies from dropping people when they get sick and discriminating against those with pre-existing conditions such as diabetes.

Given the "tough" deicsion for the predicament she's in, she'll go with the Republican date. However, she'll text message her stood-up Democratic date the next day and rave about the great time she had, and at the same time proclaim that she still looks forward having an equally great time with him in the not-too-distant future. ...because most of the people listening to them-- their constituents-- are by definition too gullible to know what's good for them. That sounds harsh, but it's directly demonstrated by the fact they sent Ben Nelson and Blanche Lincoln to Washington to tell their lies rather than keeping them back at home to cheat customers the old fashioned way.

It's really quite shameless. Nelson et al know that they can say the most outlandish rubbish imaginable and their constituents will believe it because they're predisposed to believe rubbish. So that's what they give them, utterly without shame.

I would never have known about that if you hadn't mentioned it. And I have Netflix, too.

I, too, am a former Nebraskan who watched Ernie carry out his job in quite a dramatic way. He was cool; he never gave up and he always generated lots of controversy and comment.

Remember that guy Roman Hruska? And who was the one who said mediocre people needed representation? I think it was in response to a comment about a SC nominee being mediocre. The thinking was laughable: like we should have a mediocre judge to represent mediocre people. That really is funny!

Nebraska never seems to have any politicians who are willing to do the right thing. They always kowtow to corporate interests. The people there are incredibly ignorant because there is no media forum that airs anything but the corporate viewpoint.
