Party Chairmen Debate Nasty Campaigning

WASHINGTON (AP) - Ed Gillespie and Terry McAuliffe returned to their alma mater Thursday night and debated whether Gillespie's Republicans or McAuliffe's Democrats are more responsible for the nasty tone of the presidential campaign.

The two national party chairmen were cautioned to "fight nice" by Father David O'Connell, president of The Catholic University of America - and then proceeded to pile blame on each other for the increasingly hostile campaign.

A crowd of more than 1,000 students and alumni watched the hourlong debate on the Catholic campus in northeast Washington.

"There's been a constant stream of attacks," said Gillespie, a member of the Catholic class of '83. "'The president's a liar, we're all crooks and liars.' College Republicans today, John Kerry has called them the most crooked bunch of liars on campus."

1. Hey, I agree with Gillespie.
"The president's a liar, we're all crooks and liars."

How refreshing to hear a repuke speak the truth.

3. Gillespie on Dems' criticisms: "Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"
Sockinit, Ed, you whining whiner. Maybe if your lying liar of a "president" weren't such a lying liar, you wouldn't have to be a crybaby about "a constant stream of attacks" -- which are all more than justified, you sleazeweasel.

4. Terry shot him down
After giving example after example Terry said they'd be happy to debate the issues but Bush refuses, so in the meantime, they'll have to fight fire with fire.

Also said after 3 years it was time for Bush to take responsibility instead of always blaming Clinton and reminded everyone how Clinton never once blamed Bush I for the condition of the country once he took office. He just moved forward and went his own way.

It was a pretty good debate on Terry's part. Ed is a sap.

5. I don't know what they are complaining about.
Kerry referred to the Republican attack machine that put out lies from an untrue 900 billion dollar tax increase back to an untrue Al Gore said he invented the Internet. Both are debunked.

Kerry said: "they are the biggest bunch of liars and crooks" once, once certainly can not be constantly, and certainly not with the word "campus."

If an email offends you, to whom did you forward it? Clearly they should respond. Let me know if you do not get one and from whom.

I don't know what they are complaining about.
