Powell Starts Surprise Visit to Baghdad (Reuters)
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Secretary of State Colin Powell began a surprise visit to Baghdad Friday on the eve of the anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein.

U.S. officials declined to disclose details of his visit, which took place after a spate of attacks by insurgents against U.S. troops, Iraqis associated with the occupation and civilians.

4. Could you imagine members of the Truman Administration
refusing to give any information on when and where they were going to fly into Germany and Japan a year after WWII was over for fear of getting shot or bombed? Or McArthur hiding out in armored bunkers in Japan?

Yeah, we really have made Iraq a safer place.

8. In a just world all members of congress who voted for that stupid-ass
resolution would be forced to spend a week in Iraq at a "soft target." I wonder how many would have voted for it then?

3. Considering how close they came to plugging Abazaid
I expect Powell will remain mostly in a bunker in the Green Zone. Needless to say, he should be familiar with the problem. the same cats they got burning shit at the camp are pacing off coordinates for mortar fire. Powell can feel like he's back on the Batangan Peninsula with the Americal Division (or did he spend most of his time in the TAOR....:eyes:

9. Remember Rumsfeld washing his hands of Iraq?
http://www.fortwayne.com/mld/newssentinel/news/editorial/7920901.htm

Basically, Rumsfeld told Powell, 'here's your bag of shit, hope you like it!'

Powell is like a beaten wife right now. He stood by her man when that mean Kerry said foreign leaders didn't like Bush. Now he gets Iraq because Rumsfeld doesn't want it.
