Taiwan's President Chen wounded
It is confirmed from BBC

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/3548893.stm

Taiwan's President Chen Shui-bian has been wounded during campaigning in the south of the island.
Confusion surrounds the circumstances of the incident, but a government spokesman told BBC News Online that Mr Chen had been injured by a firecracker.

Other reports suggest that the Taiwanese president may have been shot.

Mr Chen is believed to have suffered a stomach wound and Vice-President Annette Lu has also been injured, but reports say neither is seriously hurt.

Taiwan is holding its presidential election on Saturday.

1. SPIEGEL reports that
both the President and his Vice President have been wounded but are conscious and stable.

This is one day before the presidental elections in Taiwan.

4. There´s no clue yet who might´ve done it.
But I guess it´s not so hard to guess. The president was elected on the promise of declaring full independence for Taiwan. Which would be a reason for China to go to war.
