Frum Exits Conservative Think Tank
Source: MSNBC via HuffPo

After criticizing Republican Party leaders for their total opposition to President Obama's health-care plans, former Bush speechwriter David Frum announced that his relationship with the conservative American Enterprise Institute think tank was terminated.

From Frum's blog:

I have been a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute since 2003. At lunch today, AEI President Arthur Brooks and I came to a termination of that relationship.

Below is the text of my letter of resignation.

Dear Arthur,
This will memorialize our conversation at lunch today. Effective immediately, my position as a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute is terminated. I appreciate the consideration that delays my emptying of my office until after my return from travel next week. Premises will be vacated no later than April 9.

3. Either the "Waterloo" column pissed people off, or this has been simmering for a while
On the one hand, he might have burned some bridges with that column. On the other, the Right as a whole is trying to distance itself from the Bush years, so that might just have been the last straw of many.

8. It's AEI's loss....
They seem to only want to hear their own echo chamber than the truth, and Frum just spoke some very hard to swallow truths.

9. I think I saw him on the Joy Behar show...
He seemed reasonable, and critical of the BS the GOP has been shoveling. There are some 'reasonable' republicans out there. Some joined our Coffee Party in Omaha. They wanted to see some action, even if it wasn't ideal for them. They get smothered by the loud mouth right wing crazy bastards out there. Our media makes it seem they are the majority in this country.

10. I think a tiny bit of Frum's Canadian-ness has been showing, and the AEI doesn't like that.
He's a dual citizen, but he was born and raised in Toronto.

15. He told the conservanazis the truth.
Something they don't like to hear. Since they know what's right for the country and such. You know, they are the annointed ones to lead us.
So, the truth hurts their ears.

Too fucking bad, I say. Fuck 'em. Feed the conservanzis fish heads and keep 'em in a closet. :bounce:

16. Reading his blog post, this looks even uglier
"Thank you for not dumping the shit from my office until I get back next week" is a very, very, very bad way to end a professional relationship.

18. FIRED! He was FIRED!
By his own admission, he said his position had been terminated. That means you're FIRED! The good news for Frum is that you qualify of unemployment.
