Investigators: Former GA Senator Was Killed by Husband in Murder-Suicide
Source: WSPA

Former Georgia Republican Senator Nancy Schaefer.
-----------

Investigators with the Habersham County Sheriff’s Investigators with the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation say, in reference to the deaths of Nancy and Bruce Schaefer, the evidence indicates that Bruce Schaefer shot his wife once then turned the gun on himself. The couple were discovered in the bedroom of their home by relatives late Friday afternoon.

Investigators say a gun was found near the body of Mr. Schaefer, and several letters written by Mr. Schaefer to family members were found in the home including a suicide note. It's very shocking not only to myself but to everyone in the community."

"Daughter of the victims found them in the house. She hasn't heard from them all day. Evidently, she went to the house and discovered the bodies," Sheriff Joey Terrell said. The Habersham County Sheriff says the deaths of the former State Senator and her husband arehitting everyone hard. "It's very shocking not only to myself but to everyone in the community," he said.

A GBI Medical Examiner determined that Mrs. Schaefer died from a single gunshot wound to the back and Mr. Schaefer died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

provided cheap labor!

"Labored Logic"
Democrats have been buzzing about comments made by state Sen. Nancy Schaefer (R-Turnerville) at a recent eggs-and-issues breakfast in Hart County. We quote from the Hartwell Sun newspaper: "Commenting on illegal immigration, Schaefer said 50 million abortions have been performed in this country, causing a shortage of cheap American labor. 'We could have used those people,' she said."

9. Most conservatives are cunning enough NOT to admit this in public
For many years, lots of people have been aware that one of the primary reasons conservatives oppose abortion is to provide a cheap source of labor - not only from the increased numbers in the labor pool, but from parents who cannot afford to depart the workforce and take care of their additional children.

It's surprising to find that a conservative woman was foolish enough to actually go on record in opposition to abortion because it would cut into production of a valuable 'commodity' - the people they could 'use' (her word) to enhance corporate profits. As badly as that hideous ideology reeks, it's made even worse in light of the racism contained in the same sentence; she may as well have said, 'we want wage slaves, but we want homegrown ones - preferably white. I weep at the thought of all those companies losing out on all that cheap labor.'

I'd never heard of this woman before today, but I'm familiar with this ideology. The tragedy in her death is that she never had the opportunity to experience the economic despair she would have ordained for millions of people she wanted to see 'used' to enhance corporate profits.

25. Shit, at least she's open about her hideous ideology.

I'd rather deal with someone like that than someone who's too much of a slimeball to even admit it.

Nevertheless, the world's just improved slightly.

18. It is doubtful that this is even true
I recall reading a demographic analysis showing that women who became young single mothers had lifetime fertility that was actually lower than the average. Essentially, it becomes more difficult to get an education (childcare responsibilities) and find a marriage partner (many men don't want to help support another man's offspring) for young single mothers. The reduced level of family resources (via the woman's own reduced earnings and the lower probability of marrying) results in having fewer kids later in life.

So, the assumption that making abortion illegal will create a bonanza of babies is probably not true, besides being cynical.

2. More info

From the web:

As if the verbal abuse against politicians wasn’t enough this week, the horrible news that former Georgia Senator Nancy Schaefer and her husband were found shot to death in their home this morning was another shocking reminder. Schaefer, a prominent Republican at 73, was watching her husband suffer from cancer, and the duo apparently frequently talked about a suicide-pact.

If it does turn out that the Schaefers were involved in a murder/suicide, then there is nothing to feel but anguish and pity that the duo couldn’t fathom another way to deal with Mr. Schaefer’s disease than ending both their lives.

Wow, as much as I disagree with Republican politics, I still feel sorrow for pains and hardships that come their way. Just wish they could do the same for me like the HUMANS they all claim to be.

Horrible tragedy indeed.

6. Apparently she was a conspiracy theorist who thought state children's protective services
Edited on Sun Mar-28-10 04:53 AM by depakid
were organized evil. Or something.

From her press release on losing re-election in 2008:

It appears Senator Schaefer’s coming against an agency, as powerful and with as much funding as Child Protective Services (CPS) or the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS), as she did in the last session of the Georgia General Assembly and seeking investigations into the corruption of CPS/DFSC, rendered her a target for political loss by the “powers that be”.

More: http://www.peachpundit.com/2008/08/08/how-do-you-define-sour-grapes/

(This extended to children's services in Oregon and Nebraska too, according to the comments)

Then there's the usual stuff you'd expect from a North Georgia Republican:

"Shortage of cheap labor" due to abortions ... Sen. Nancy Schaefer

The level of insanity reached a critical mass because they were surrounded by people who told them that their "ideas" were normal and worthy of re-election.

28. I'm just wondering if she ALSO had some physical illness so that
she wanted to be killed. Why not just have HIM knock himself off and then garner all that sympathy that would flow to her from losing him to suicide.
