Associated PressSAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco prosecutors say an additional 1,400 cases may be dropped this week because of a scandal at the crime lab.
Brian Buckelew, a spokesman for the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, says the additional cases would be come on top of the 500 cases that have already been dropped.
Of those cases, Buckelew says prosecutors hope to refile charges in 300 cases, though a final decision hasn't been made.
The crime lab was closed March 9 following allegations that a longtime technician stole cocaine evidence.
