KTVN NewsNevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto delivered a letter to Governor Jim Gibbons Tuesday morning saying her office's legal review shows the state should not join in litigation over health care reform.
In the four page letter, Masto writes, "In my professional judgment, joining the litigation filed by 14 other states, as you have suggested, is not warranted by existing law at this time."
Governor Gibbons says the health care law is unconstitutional and wanted Nevada to sue the federal government.
Masto says the litigation would not come without a cost to Nevada and that existing legislation would affect all states, including Nevada. She writes, "Nevada can ride for free at this time by allowing other states to foot the bill."
