Van Hollen: Congress likely to extend tax cuts before election

Congress will likely extend President George W. Bush’s middle-class tax cuts before the November election.

Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), who runs the House Democrats' campaign arm and also serves as an assistant to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), told The Hill in an interview he expected several middle-class tax cuts to be extended before the midterm election.

But it’s unclear whether Congress will allow tax cuts on the wealthy to expire.

House leaders have long said they want to extend a tax break that benefits married couples and increase the child tax credit. They also have said they want to extend tax cuts for individuals earning less than $200,000 and for couples earning less than $250,000.

Wouldn't the deficit make a huge leap toward the black once the cuts for the upper 1% were allowed to expire? Seems doing that, then touting that the deficit just reduced by a trillion dollars would be a plus in getting the indy vote?

..........in line with our expenditures. Make a huge PR push on cutting or extending the "middle class" cuts and INCREASE the rates on everyfuckingbody making over $200,000 per year. ALSO, start taxing dividends at a normal rate. Shit, we may even be able to get the deficit down AND pass some social programs.
