The flare-up over Sarah Palin's scheduled speech on a California State University campus has taken a fresh twist after students uncovered a portion of her confidential contract.

The document, which was found in a campus dumpster, does not include her compensation for the June 25 speech to the CSU Stanislaus Foundation.

It does specify other requirements to be provided by the foundation. They include round-trip, first-class airfare for two, a suite and two rooms at a deluxe hotel, and transportation via SUVs or black town cars.

It also requires that Palin's lectern be stocked with water bottles and bendable straws.

The students say they acted on a tip that documents were being shredded inside the main administration building last Friday, a day that campus staff was supposed to be on furlough.

17. Not in her defense, but as an observation about such contracts in general. . .

I read awhile back that many contracts such as this will stipulate a bizarre condition ("a bowl of MM's with no red candies") for the purpose of ensuring that the contract is, in fact, read by the host venue. It may not be the "star" who requests it, but something their manager inserts.

Or it could be she's just a control freak. You're guess is as good as mine.

very modest requests, as these things go. You should see the conditions in most of these contracts.

The much bigger story is that the university lied to a state senator, then threw out these contracts, but few seem to have followed the link to the OP article. Here ya go:



"It is truly shocking and a gross violation of the public trust that such documents would be thrown away and destroyed during a pending investigation," Sen. Leland Yee (D-San Francisco) said in a statement released after his press conference with the students.

Earlier this month, Yee filed a Public Records Act request with the university asking for documents related to Palin's appearance. The university responded that it did not have any related documents. Yee said he asked the Attorney General's office to investigate."
