Texas Rep. Debbie Riddle Introduces Similar Anti-Immigration Bill as Arizona's

A Texas lawmaker said today that she agrees with the controversial immigration bill passed in Arizona and plans to introduce a similar one in her own state to combat the flow of illegal immigrants.

Republican Texas Rep. Debbie Riddle told ABCNews.com that the bill she plans to introduce in the state legislature later this year "gives law enforcement officers additional tools, if they have the reasonable suspicion that there is a violation of a law, to inquire into an individual's immigration status."

Riddle, who is up for election in November, introduced similar legislation last session, but it never made it out of committee.

She says that like Arizona's Gov.Jan Brewer, who is under fire from both Democrats and Republicans over the state's new anti-immigrant law, her first priority is to "make sure that the safety and security of citizens is well established, not to determine whether I get positive or negative or no attention at all."

"The people who are saying (these laws) are racially motivated are trying to divert attention for their own selfish greed," said Riddle.

of a local newscast story (in Kansas City) and apparently someone in the Missouri legislature is introducing a similar measure also. You just can't keep a bad idea down.

Republicans can't afford to lose more then one person on such a vote, and after seeing what's going on in Arizona, I would think some Republicans would be smarter then their Arizona colleagues to play with their political lives.

13. Vote Debbie Riddle out of Office

Rep. Debbie Riddle said she will introduce a measure similar to the Arizona's SB1070 immigration law in the January legislative session in Texas. Well that may be the case, if she is still in office. Rep. Debbie Riddle is just another arrogant incumbent who believes she is entitled to hold the peoples office. This over confident politician needs to be reminded that she works for the people of her district and to not take her elected office for granted. She is a supporter of a bill that promotes racial profiling and infringes on the rights of its own citizens. Rep. Debbie Riddle wants to introduce a bill in Texas that will require its own citizens to carry identification proving they are in the country legally. Who would have ever thought that in 2010 U.S. citizens could be detained and questioned in their own country because they may not look a certain way. Lets send Rep. Debbie Riddle a message that hate laws will not be tolerated in Texas.
