6. but could it just be a variation on spelling?
the places my husband was stationed over there, different news sources spelled them in different ways.

I just hope it is a different place. Some family is going to suffer because of this, anyway.

8. Yes, it's a variation on the spelling
Abu Gharayb, Abu-Gharaib, whatever. Same place. The district makes up the Western suburb of Baghdad. Within the district is the main prison, which Mari's stepson is guarding as an MP. In the past, I've seen that the previous MP Battalions guarding the prison (220, 800) have been described as detached to the 1st Armored Division.

7. No respect for our soilders!
We lost 19 soldiers in Iraq last week, and this administration, along with the complicity of the media, turns their head and pretends that nothing has happened.

11. It will get much worse....
After the fake ceremonial "handover" of power to the US/Iraqi puppets, all hell is going to break loose. I predict a media blackout so murikans won't get any bad news from Iraq while the boy king runs for reselection.

12. I think it's gonna get rougher when the Wahhabi, Bat’this and Kurdish
join the Shi’ite & Sunni. Less than 100 days are left to get them a consitition that will work.

I don't know why we just don't give 'em the U.S. consitition, we never use it.

10. It seems like the Bushies are working to
desensitize the American populace to military casualties. The number of deaths have been shockingly high over the last week and a half, but it seems like they're barely even being mentioned in the news.

Even here, it doesn't get the kind of response it used to.

If Bush gets a second term, I fully expect him to launch more wars that will have very high casualty rates, but he will have already gotten the American people to accept lots of casualties so there won't be any outcry.

It's like he's slowly and gradually building up our acceptance level.

13. no honors--Bush treats these men and women as if they do not exist
they are flown home in the middle of the night--America honors our war dead thusly by trying to cover up the rising numbers of our dead. Sneak them home, forbid pictures--keep it secret--so Bush can continue to lie and get away with his lies.

He is the worst president we have ever had the misfortune to suffer sitting in the Oval office.

May he go back to Crawford in disgrace and take the frump with him.

14. They learned that from the Soviets
When they were in Afghanistan. Their people didn't know the toll the war was taking until someone started to notice the cemetaries filling up.
I was curious about the number of dead when this started, lunaville has it at 65 for last March, we're at 34 with a lot of month left now. Maybe when our cemetaries start filling up people will notice then.
