WASHINGTON -- After pounding away at rival John Kerry's views on defense, President Bush's re-election team this week will be focusing on the cost of Kerry's spending plans, campaign officials said Sunday.<snip>
On Sunday, it released cost estimates for 28 Kerry proposals ($1.7 trillion over the next 10 years), which they said had been calculated by groups such as the Congressional Budget Office, independent research groups and the Kerry campaign itself.<snip>
"Despite their credibility gap, the Bush team wants to mislead America about John Kerry's economic policies," he said. "John Kerry will cut taxes on the middle class, roll back the Bush tax cut for the wealthiest Americans and cut the budget deficit in half."
"We will put out a detailed budget sometime in the future that shows how to get us back on track," campaign spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said earlier.
The most recent postings on Kerry's campaign Web site charge that the president's deficits mean that "each child arrives in this world owing $35,000" and blames the Bush tax cuts that have benefited the wealthiest Americans.<snip>
