UK's Houses of Parliament to get walled in

London - A high concrete wall, topped with barbed wire and guarded by police with shoot-to-kill orders, is to be thrown up around the Houses of Parliament in London, a British tabloid reported on Wednesday.

The Daily Mirror said Westminster's historic iron railings would be replaced by a five-metre barrier.

An unnamed minister involved in planning the wall told the tabloid: "We must start taking security here seriously if we want to avoid a strike at the heart of our democracy."

Police with shoot-to-kill orders would patrol the perimeter, which is currently surrounded by unsightly concrete blocks less than a metre high to protect against car bombers, the Mirror said.

5. Maybe all those homeowners' associations that had themselves

fenced in with security fences had it right! Maybe they had the scoop on all of this. It certainly sounds like some eerie sci-fi where all the 'reportedly' democratic, for the people types are walling themselves in against the angry, bitter mobs.
