CIA chief admits warnings 'lit up' before 9/11

"Warnings of an imminent terrorist strike "lit up" in the weeks before the September 11 attacks, the head of the CIA said today.

George Tenet also told the official US inquiry into the attacks of the confusion and missed opportunities to kill Osama bin Laden.

Mr Tenet took centre stage on the second day of public hearings by the inquiry commission that has criticised the Bush and Clinton administrations over their counter-terrorism strategy before 9/11.

Mr Tenet backed Donald Rumsfeld's statement that the attacks could not have been prevented even if bin Laden had been killed before."

4. That's so bogus. No, not if they only caught OBL right beforehand, BUT

if they'd been on top of things, they could've (also) found out who and where the terrorists were and given the airlines/airports a heads up at minimum, it's not like they didn't leave a big old trail of breadcrumbs at every frigging turn. Weasels.

is getting asked? if only OBL was killed?

how about could 9/11 have been prevented by stopping them from getting through the friggin airports?

how about could 9/11 have been prevented by picking them while they were being monitored?

and what about those memos in minnesota & arizona. i havenn't yet heard anything about those.

why is it always '9/11 couldn't have been prevented 'even if' obl had been killed? could it be tied to clinton's unsuccessful missile attacks?

14. I'm just as interested in what happened AFTER 9/11.

(1) On what basis did the WH decide to take Cipro.....no evidence of anthrax attacks.

(2) Who shorted the stock market? Someone has records on who placed the orders.

(3) Why didn't we arrest the ISI general who funneled $100K to Atta?

(4) Why'd we give Pakistani's/AQ safe passage out of Afghanistan? On whose orders?

(5) Who gave the order to allow OBL's relatives to leave the country?

16. They keep hiding behind the idea that the terrorists attacks

could not have been prevented, even if Osama had been killed. This may be true, but why didn't they take a closer look at the intel dealing with hijacking airliners? How does a terrorist learn to fly a 767? Take a look at the flight schools in our own country using flight simulators. There's a lot they should have done and didn't.
