U.S. sent medically unfit soldiers to Iraq, Pentagon acknowledges
WASHINGTON - (KRT) - To meet the demand for troops in Iraq, the military has been deploying some National Guard and Army Reserve soldiers who aren't fit for combat.

More than a dozen members of the Guard and reserves told Knight Ridder they were shipped off to battle with little attention paid to their medical histories.

Those histories included ailments such as asthma, diabetes, recent surgery and hearing loss. Once in Iraq, the soldiers faced severe conditions that aggravated their medical problems, and the medical care available to them was limited.

2. *chuckle* I was 4F during the Vietnam era,
but the Peace Corps took me & happily sent me off to the boonies in Korea, where the armed forces got hazardous duty pay. However, I was comfortably living in a little boarding house - good korean food every meal, fresh pump well water (but boiling before drinking is a good idea) and a reasonably clean outhouse (the honey wagon visited every three months or so). I wasn't under the stress of combat like these poor slobs in Iraq, so maybe the comparison is unfair. Also, I don't have asthma - that would not be smart thing to send someone to the korean countryside with.....

4. My stepson was sent with scoliosis of the spine and another
kid was sent over there with burns over half his body from the 1st battle there and mfso.org was fighting to keep him here, but they sent him anyway.
The Bu$h administration doesnt give a shit about these kids, never has.
