Question: Is Saddam a bad man?

Question: What is your favorite color?

Question: What is your favorite vegetable:

Qusetion: Why is Saddam a bad man?

for the WH to slime itself with her refusal to testify before this all important-to-the-nation commission whose purpose is the truth. How can our country make itself secure when a security adviser claims executive privilege? She has NO privilege to deny US citizens and the victims' families THEIR right to hear the truth.

72. Remember Martha Mitchell
Edited on Thu Mar-25-04 08:53 PM by goclark
She had that mystery death from "cancer" shortly after she talked too much @ Nixon and his buddies.

Martha stayed a little into the booze but I thought she was telling the truth.

The situation with Condi is different. She doesn't know how to spell the word truth.

What I don't understand is who really likes her other than Bush?
Not Powell,Rumball, Wolfie, NOT Chaney -- so who else is she friends with other than Bush Senior?

I believe they would all make her take the fall in a New York minute.

Do you think Rove and Bush care how bad she looks? As long as she's out front looking bad, the spotlight is off of them. She's perfect for them. Black, female...therefore thoroughly disposable.

Rice, who has met privately with the commission once before, may not get her wish, however, because the commission could insist that any new appearance, even if in private, be conducted under oath. A source familiar with the commission’s operations told NBC News that the panel has consistently required anyone rebutting sworn testimony to be similarly under oath.

I remember Jamie G. and two/three of the other commissioners saying that"they were so impressed with her previous testimony that they couldn't imagine why she was saying no."

That seemed strange for them to kiss up one minute and then say the wanted her now.

Also, isn't the next committee meeting in the summer? Will they call a special little tea party session just for her sorry a**?

A source familiar with the commission’s operations told NBC News that the panel has consistently required anyone rebutting sworn testimony to be similarly under oath.

Rice has come under heavy criticism for refusing to testify before the commission under oath or in public. She said Wednesday in an interview on “NBC Nightly News” that she had a responsibility to protect the president’s constitutional guarantee of executive privilege, arguing that the president could not rely on his advisers to speak to him openly if they could be questioned about their advice to him. >

48. Actually, this is good
The more secretive they are, the more the public will question the motives. People who hide behind "national security" ALL the time start to sound like "The boy who cried wolf".

81. And the other problem is - Clarke has apparently endeared himself
to the 9/11 families, who are now favorably predisposed toward HIM, and UNfavorably predisposed toward the White House. Because he had the courage and the grace and the integrity to stand up about it, before them, like a man. It CANNOT be said that the White House has done anything remotely similar.

(snip)

While the Bush administration and its supporters have heaped scorn on Clarke since he first aired his allegations Sunday in an interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes,” his testimony before the Sept. 11 commission was praised by many family members of victims of the al-Qaida terrorist attack.

“He is the first person who has apologized to the families, and that means an awful lot to us, because clearly 9/11 was a colossal failure,” Kristen Breitweiser, who lost her husband, Ron, in the attack, said on NBC’s “Today” show.

Breitweiser lambasted the White House for refusing to have Rice testify publicly before the commission.

Again, see my sig line. CALL YOUR CONGRESS-CRITTER ABOUT THIS!! First thing in the morning.

49. "Willing"??? She's begging for another bite at the free spin zone.
She wants to scratch her smelly kitty litter over the bad news Clarke has been laying down.

Everybody knows the commission has a long-standing invite for her to testify in public. My understanding is that SHE is now trying to get back in for another closed session, since she obviously perceives the extensive damage bushco has taken, and needs to inject some unsworn and unquotable lies into the record. If the commission allows this, they may as well send their report to Rove for the final edit.

52. "Clarke charges seen as devastating; commission could insist on oath"
If true this is sweet,

From the pretty-good MSNBC article:

Panel could rebuff Rice
Rice, who has met privately with the commission once before, may not get her wish, however, because the commission could insist that any new appearance, even if in private, be conducted under oath. A source familiar with the commission’s operations told NBC News that the panel has consistently required anyone rebutting sworn testimony to be similarly under oath.

Wendell Golier reporting WH trying to arrange Rice's *public* appearence in panel's schedule, but still wanting to waive the oath requirement.

Man, they are stepping in it big time, IMO: "Yeah, after Clarke said that we we saw how much it hurt, I've cahnged my mind and now I expect you to allow me to tesitfy in public, on my terms and without being held to the same legal standard as everyone else. And oh yeah. Clarke has a credibility problem..."

62. She might as well be wearing a big neon sign ...
... that says: "I'M A LYING WHORE FOR THE BUSHOLINI CABAL"

She can hop from one talking head to another spewing the Busholini "line" ... as long as she can't be prosecuted for lying.

She can't take an oath to tell the truth and still say what Cheney requires her to say.

"Executive Privilege" means lying to the people and continuing to have people killed for private profit and public expense.

(Wow! It's sure a good thing it's not as serious as a blow job.) :eyes:

68. I don't trust her to tell the truth even if she is under oath.
* and his minions have convinced themselves that they have a God-given right to lie in the interest of their agenda.

Minor issues like truthfulness and oaths don't play into it. The scary part is that they think they have a right to behave this way!

69. Olbermann has a different take on this
Just watched Keith Olbermann, and at the top of the hour, he reported that Condoleeza Rice requested a seperate, new, and private session with the commission, for the purpose of refuting Richard Clarke's allegations.

That puts a whole new light on things, doesn't it? And if it's been reported earlier in this thread, I'm sorry I missed it!

71. Under oath and in public Dr. Rice!
The only way the public should accept her testimony! bush* and cheney et al. also! If it was/is good enough for Clinton, we should demand the same from the administration whose watch 9/11 happen! Clinton took responsibility for the WTC bombing that happened on his watch! He didn't blame the previous administration for that and he sought and prosecuted those who did the deed! The buck stops where?

79. We need to use the right wing mantra that the right wing used on
Clinton...

every right wing war team soldier from Huffington to Meese appeared on TV and radio...and said...Just Come Forward. They repeated that on the hour, then switched to ...Just Admit It....then it was...Just Say You'r Sorry.....

I will be looking forward to hearing rush spew bile in her defense and of bushes faild comedy act.

I really am starting to believe that the end times are near for the Bush/Cheney Administration, and we are witnessing history in the making.

We've had enough lies from this administration.
