Cheney to be released from the hospital Monday: spokesman
Source: NY Post

Former Vice President Dick Cheney was expected to be released from the hospital on Monday, his spokesman Peter Long confirmed.

Cheney was hospitalized in Washington D.C. on Friday with a buildup of fluid that is related to his longstanding heart issues.

A statement from Cheney's office over the weekend said: "After receiving IV medication, the former Vice President is markedly improved. His physicians plan to discharge him in a day or so."

13. There are worse things to worry about now
Cheney's out... out with the old, in with the new.
I don't allow myself to get worked up over his shortcomings anymore.

On to bigger and better things...

4. I don't get excited over these Cheney false alarms anymore
When he goes, he goes.

Yes, he's arguably one of the scummiest pieces of shit ever to walk the earth, but I don't necessarily wish him dead.

He is a profoundly miserable and unhappy human being despite his wealth and status. If he croaks, he's no longer miserable.

5. +10
Indeed. This may be his purgatory. All the wealth, power and deceit he's built and he's too sickly to enjoy it.

6. Reminds me of the way reagan went out.
Even those of us who opposed him (in my case rather vehemently) have to admit he lived one very incredible life - with some very amazing events and countless world-class memories. And in his last years he also was too sickly to enjoy it. Ironically his Alzheimers robbed him of every last one of those world-class memories. He went out - completely disconnected from ANY of that (of course that also means he didn't remember any of the bad things he did or caused - not that he'd even have acknowledged those things as being bad in the first place). Irony is Justice in this case - it's all the justice we got from that bastard.

8. The problem with that is his goddamn policies STILL live on...........
..........I would rather have him around drooling now and his policies discredited when he left office. Kind of the "lefts" policies when McGovern was trounced by Nixon no less in 1972. After 72 the left just kind of fucking died. Also in the 70's the RW think tanks starting popping up and we all know how that fucking story ended. Well, I'm rambling again. Wished I lived in California after this November.

9. Your post is painful to read because it's so true. After 72 the left just kind of fucking died.
I don't know if it was because some of the fight went out of us when McGovern got that electoral shellacking in 1972, or if some of us got complacent and figured - oh, well, we've come pretty far, so that's cool, 'eh! Let's pat ourselves on the backs for all that work and what we've achieved, and now let's all go kick back and rest on our laurels. Or even take a nap! (For about 40 years!) While meantime, the bad guys were revving their engines and getting their pit crews ready and in position, and there we were - sleeping by the side of the road thinking everything was just fine and would stay that way.

MAN did our side drop the ball. And now I don't know if there's any way to catch up.

Feeling really bleak this morning.

Just this morning my husband was wondering aloud whether Dems would remember how to obstruct and flex their muscles and keep the enemy contained and out-strategized and out-witted and out-maneuvered and out-talking-point'ed when the GOBP gets back in power. We were both of the opinion that the answer will be "NO."

"...won't get ROLLED again..." In my dreams mostly.

14. I agree. If the Republicans get back in power (both Houses, it's "possible").....
..........I think you're right that the Dems will just lay down, the SAME as they did under Bush. Ya gotta give it to the Republicans, evil fuckers that they are, they stood tight and didn't bend AT ALL for a Dem controlled White House and both Houses. And, whatever you can say about Bush, he bullied, badgered and beat a lot of Dems into submission. I am feeling more and more since the election that no I don't think we will ever catch up, at least in my lifetime I'm 63.

15. I'm 57. I share your belief. I like to believe in that fabled pendulum swinging.
I keep hearing about it anyway. All through the bush years I kept hearing about it. Over and over. "Don't worry. The pendulum swings back. It will. You watch. It will. It always does." Okay. I'm still here watching. Where's the swing? I don't see ANY indication that we're going to start pushing the Supreme Court back toward the left again. Everything just seems to be swinging alright. Swinging farther and farther to the wrong. I wonder if I will live long enough to see true liberalism rise again, and CONs take their rightful place back at the bottom where they belong. I'm not holding my breath.

It's really a shame. Our side has the better philosophy and the better ideas, but we can't get much of it done, if any at all. The bad guys have a shitty, selfish, short-sighted, penny-wise/pound-foolish, thoughtless, cheapskate philosophy and equally shitty ideas. But they get stuff done.

I'm pretty discouraged at the moment. I see too many blocks stacked up on the other side against us, and nowhere NEAR enough on our side. I don't see ANY ruthless strategizers, I don't see ANY efforts to take back the media or level the playing field. I don't see ANY wealthy liberals (and you KNOW they exist) buying up radio stations and TV stations to form OUR networks and OUR 300/400/500/600-station chains that will carry only LIBERAL programming and develop LIBERAL talk show hosts. I see next to NOTHING in terms of liberal think tanks and forceful opposition and balls-to-the-wall on TV. I don't see ANYBODY from our side FORCING themselves onto "Meet the Press" or "Face the Nation" or Stephanopolous's program. I see NOBODY putting it to wholly-owned subsidiary idiots like wolf blitzer and candy crowley or that poseur anderson cooper on CNN. I don't see ANYBODY attempting to subvert the bad guys. I don't see ANY really aggressive truth squads. I don't see ANY of this. NOBODY camping out at the networks DEMANDING coverage. WHERE'S the opposition research on our side, and where's the stomach to be able to USE IT? I don't see - yeah, okay, I'll say it: ANY kkkarl roves on our side. And DO NOT give me that crap about - "oh, we CAN'T go there! We become no better than the bad guys!"

BULLSHIT.

You know what? I WANT to be like them! I ABSOLUTELY WANT to be like them. Because they WIN. Yeah, fine, we got the last one. Did we make it count? Did we bully and browbeat the opposition into submission and force our agenda and RE-regulation of Big Oil and Wall Street down their throats whether they liked it or not? All that political capital - and our side frickin' squandered it. We pretty much rolled over and tried to make nice. And we got their shit-covered boots in our faces and we had to settle for crap instead of single-payer or public option health care and banking reform that made the bankers happier than anybody else. The last of bush's asshole corporate pirate lobbyists and croneys were NOT immediately exposed and then hosed out of their jobs like shit through a goose, as they should have been.

Our side still believes in going to gunfights armed with feather dusters. Oh, the American people will just KNOW the truth! Trust the voters! ARE YOU KIDDING??? I'm sorry, but the voters are mostly STUPID. And GULLIBLE. They've been dumbed down, bumper-sticker sloganeered, Walmarted, short-attention-spanned, and there's NOBODY on our side trying to combat that head-on. And now, it's probably too late. The bad guys hunkered down and got to work after Goldwater and built up a CONservative infrastructure, think tanks and foundations and their own "universities" and law "schools" and buying up all the broadcast properties they could find - and they've built the juggernaut we're all suffocating under, now. And we've done NOTHING. Ever since we let the Equal Rights Amendment stall and we wandered off to lick our wounds and wonder what went wrong - nobody seems to have any fight in them on our side. And you can't sustain a long winning streak without it.

We don't need to win just ONE presidential election. We need to win MULTIPLES. IN A ROW. Two for us and one for them and then another two OR THREE for us, so that OUR side will have time to replace more of the Supreme Court justices, so that OUR side will have time to re-regulate. We may only get til November at the rate it's going. If Obama couldn't get much done in the past two years, just wait til he has oppositional majorities to face. Especially that rat-bastard darrell issa - who'd love nothing more than a committee chairmanship and subpoena power so he could launch impeachment proceedings. BET ON IT if the GOBP gets the House back. BET on it.

7. I actually don't think he's miserable. Ya gotta remember that he..........
........lives and has lived most of his adult life in a certain segregated fashion and that includes his personal life too. I don't know if I would feel any better about him even if he was miserable or not really. He's one of those people that I have absolutely no feeling for and I am SURE he, if he knew me, would feel the same. It is somewhat comforting I guess to believe a no good piece of fucking shit like Cheney would be "miserable", but I'm sure he feels just fine.

11. When reached for comment, Satan said, "A deal's a deal."
"Even Dick Cheney will get his 'three score and ten.' Let me tell you, I've got a legion of demons working double-time to keep that fat fuck going. Fortunately, next year he'll hit the big seven-oh, and then he's all mine."
