Plastic Easter egg maker lays off workers
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/apus_story.asp?category=1110&slug=BRF%20Easter%20Egg%20Plant

PEORIA, Ill. -- Two weeks before Easter, the nation's largest maker of plastic Easter eggs announced Friday it is laying off most of its 55 full-time employees and putting the plant up for sale.

About 110 seasonal employees were also laid off and a skeleton crew of a dozen workers will remain at the plant until it is sold or a partner is found, said Nicholas Poulis, president of Bleyer Industries, which owns the plant.

Poulis said sales have been lost to foreign manufacturers over the past five to eight years.

Right on the cusp, in the next month, in the next quarter, any day now....

and try to get jobs at the Mitsubishi plant.

Sorry, but I lived in Central Illinois for 20 years, and it's the biggest loser metroplex I've ever seen.

Peoria is a bit more civilized.

On edit: Sorry that the plastic easter egg folks are losing their jobs!

3. Gibson's movie did that
the populace got a dose of what easter is about just in time for easter.. I wonder how much that movie will impact consumerism with the denouement of the season rapidly approaching. Interesting how he didn't release it before thanksgiving in time to impact the commercialism of chri$tma$.

let's see how christian the folks who saw the movie are really feeling in about 8 months... could put some toy makers out of business, you know?

6. NOOOoo!! Not the plastic easter egg plant!
Huh, sort of a go figure on this part:

Plastic eggs made at the plant are marketed under the name Eggsville, U.S.A., and sold at Wal-Mart, Target, Toys "R" Us and other stores.

Very sad story actually, been in business since 1968.
