Bush hails 'growing' economy
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/03/26/bush.homes/

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (CNN) -- President Bush traveled Friday to New Mexico, the state that was decided by the closest margin in 2000, where he hailed a "growing" U.S. economy and record home ownership.

The president's speech laid out his positive view of the economy just minutes before Democratic presidential contender Sen. John Kerry, in Michigan, unveiled part of his economic plan, saying America "cannot afford" four more years of job losses under Bush.

"Thanks to being the most productive workforce in America, and I might say, thanks to good policies, this economy is strong and it's getting stronger," Bush told supporters.

<snip>

Later, Bush traveled to Arizona to deliver a similar speech in Phoenix.

The speeches in the key Southwest states were billed as official White House events, not campaign stops, meaning they were paid for by taxpayers.

1. Did someone get a job there?
That's great! Add a job in New Mexico, another one or two in California, and the economic recovery will really start cooking!

2. Arizona is actually doing pretty well
That's why he can afford to make statements like that here.

He wouldn't have the nerve to make statements like that in the midwest.

12. Arizona is actually doing marginally better than the rest of the U. S....
...at 5.3% unemployed vs. 5.6% nationally. Of course, those numbers are based on the information processed by the NeoCon Junta...the real unemployment rate is probably closer to 10% nationwide.

Arizona unemployment rate up slightly

3. he hailed a "growing" U.S. economy
Then he "hailed" a taxi to get his drunken ass home.

Then the Stepford wife "hailed" verbal abuse on his drunken carcass

5. Top of the World
He's right. The economy is growing. Employment growth has been subpar however for this stage of an economic recovery.

Corporate profits are up smartly. Unfortunately so are the massive budget and trade deficits. The boy king mortgages the future by spurring economic growth with the largest budget deficits of all time.

Record stimulus in the form of tax cuts and large increases in government spending insures economic expansion. Record low interest rates are even more important to the flood of cash hitting the markets.

So yes, King George, you are presiding over a cynical political pump job worthy of Lord Keynes himself. Now you can point to the inflated GDP and say "Top of the World Ma!"

We know how that movie ends.

We've seen it before, and we don't like it.

Just to make the paraphrase complete.

8. Yes, I wondered how that worked...
... this supposed "growing economy", in the face of a record-breaking deficit and states bleeding jobs left and right. Meanwhile, the dollar is losing ground against the Euro, which has OPEC nervous... it goes on and on. This "growing economy" is balanced upon a house of cards, and though the wealthiest in our society are going to rake in the profits while the sun shines, the rest of us will end up picking up the tab.

How long can this ruse continue before the whole shebang comes crashing down around our ears?

grow with each lie?

I think it will be pretty endless until the * Administration implodes with each lie after blad-faced lie.

10. I think that statements like this prove that bush* is not a lucid, sane,
responsible pResident, and upon that determination, he is unfit to continue in the position that he stole. And since his No. 2 is just a crazy and far more evil, he is certainly not fit to serve. Is there no clause in the Constitution that covers this situation? I mean, certainly the Founding Fathers never intended such lunatics to run things. W's performance (the disgraceful and internationally embarrassing "Nope, no WMDs here", also proved to the rest of the world how out of touch with reality he now is.

People everywhere have called bush* the most dangerous man on earth. I have never for one minute believed that he was controlling anything. I know deep down inside he is just a front man for a truly evil bunch of murderous thugs. But his detatchment from reality really scares me.

number three in line for the throne is Dennis Hastert.

On reflection, best to just toss them all out in November.

15. Can anybody help me with this statement?
"Noting that 68 percent of Americans own their own homes, Bush said, "Home sales were the highest ever recently. That's exciting news for the country."

First, where does this percentage come from. It it really that high? How does that compare with previous years?

Second, I recall reading a number of stories about a record number of bankrupcties and foreclosures. Are home sales so high because people can not longer afford to remain in their homes?

16. When you see a budget
(those things with lots of numbers in them)
sometimes they have brackets with numbers in them.

Since Bush came to power, the numbers within those brackets have been getting bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger. So, that must mean that his economic plan for America is working and working well.

You can now all go eat cake.
