Detroit -- A federal judge today is hearing arguments on whether Congress had the authority to enact President Barack Obama's health care reform earlier this year.
Judge George Caram Steeh is presiding over the hearing today in the U.S. District Court in Detroit.
The Thomas More Law Center filed the suit just minutes after the president signed the $940 billion Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on March 23. The suit is on behalf of four Michigan residents who did not feel they should be forced to purchase health care or face penalties as required by the reform.
An injunction blocking what has been known as "ObamaCare" from being enacted was requested as part of the suit.
