Cameraman killed in Falluja
Cameraman killed in Falluja
Friday 26 March 2004

An Iraqi cameraman working with US television network ABC has been killed while covering clashes in the restive town of Falluja.

"Sadly, today we learned of the death of our colleague, Burhan Muhammad Mazhour," ABC News President David Westin said in a statement on Friday.

"An Iraqi citizen, Burhan had been working as a freelance cameraman for ABC News in Falluja for about two months. He died of gunshot wounds while covering a firefight in Falluja."

"We are trying to confirm all the details surrounding his death and have asked the US military for an investigation. We will miss Burhan's dedication and rofessionalism. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."

Mazhour was shot in the head and taken to Falluja hospital, where he died shortly afterwards. Witnesses said US occupation troops fired at him. The US military said it had no information about the incident.

1. What is going on in Fallujah?
My nephew, who is in the 82nd Airborne, had been stationed in Fallujah for nearly a year. There were some firefights, but this sounds bad. The 82nd turned control over to the Marines and left. I heard the Marines were conducting a house-to-house search when this all happened. That poor man.

2. Funny how camera folks keep getting killed. Someone doesn't want photos
getting out? Or is it truly confusion?
