I did not attend. Asheville leans to the left while most
N.C. leans right. Seems most in attendance have misgivings
about voting for Nadar even though they find him interesting.)

ASHEVILLE - Ralph Nader has a simple message for Democrats: "Stop whining."

During a campaign stop at UNC Asheville Friday, the unapologetic presidential candidate said Democrats asking him not to run for president this year should roll up their sleeves and get to work.

"They should landslide George W. Bush, who is a giant corporation in the White House disguised as a human being against the interest of workers, consumers and the environment," Nader said.

For UNCA student Ryan Mills, this issue hit home. Mills said while he liked Nader's environmental platform, he probably won't vote for Nader because "it would take away from the Democratic votes."

If NC is like Indiana, then you may as well vote for Nader. But I don't know, and I'd like to.

there has been a lot of job losses in NC and although
some say they will vote for him again, I think there is
a long shot that Dems have a fair chance. Even a good
chance if Kerry chooses a Southern Vice President.

9. Hello from North Asheville!

Nice to have like-minded people here. Most of my neighbors had Bush/Cheney signs up on their lawns in 2000....we felt like outsiders.

but here in hp, i've only seen one bush/cheney-04 bumper sticker, and noticed that a couple of people in my office building have quietly & unceremoniously removed their "bush/cheney" & "support our troops" stickers. i honestly think bush has lost a bit of his core support around here. unfortunately, i don't think it'll be enough to switch the state to dem, but hope springs eternal.

With Kerry virtually tied with Bush, it would be in the party's interest to seek a truce with the much brighter and more convincing Nader.

On the other hand, if it continues to diss him while foolishly imagining that cutting corporate taxes and sending more troops to Iraq will excite progressives, well. . .

13. Piedmont NC here and the flags are gone from the SUV's and I only

occasionally see the old "Bush/Cheney" bumper stickers on the back of the dusty "pick ups" with dog in back and "Jesus Loves You," in the rear window.

There's a strange silence here. Sort of like we are in a "holding pattern." But, then I'm probably in the "brain dead" corporate part of the state with RTP nearby.

14. Possibility N.C. will go democratic

Don't know for sure, do know republicans are angry at Bush they wont voice the disgust at him just not taking up for him and very quiet. I think many of them want vote democratic but will stay home on election day, however some of the North Carolina Republican vote as daddy did even though dad, has been in his grave for 50 years. My gut feeling is that we will go democratic.

Here in CA. it's fairly established that Kerry will win this state. I actually favor Kucinich who in my view is damn close to Nadar. Nadar should be listened to and all Dems and Greens should vote for Kerry. This time it is real clear that Kerry just has to be better than Bushco. Other concept: vote for Bushco and hope that there will a revolution. I don't think there would be because the majority of Americans are ignorant sheep that will go along with anything. They would whine about job loss, wage loss, freedom loss but would not rebel in the streets.
