Hillier slams WikiLeaks 'friendly fire' report
Source: CBC News

Rick Hillier, Canada's former top soldier, is questioning the accuracy of a leaked report that suggests four Canadian soldiers who died in September 2006 in Afghanistan were killed by "friendly fire" from U.S. forces.

Hillier, who was chief of the defence staff until his retirement in 2008, told CBC News on Tuesday that the Canadian military had an entire battle group in the area at the time and "knew very clearly what was going on."

Killed were Warrant Officer Richard Nolan of Newfoundland, Warrant Officer Frank Mellish of P.E.I. and Nova Scotia, Sgt. Shane Stachnik of Alberta and Pte. William Cushley of Ontario.
"When I was a commander on operations, we always had a rule — first reports are wrong, and the second reports are wrong and the third reports are wrong," Hillier said.

1. Blame the US gov if they got the report wrong. Wikileaks only leaked the reports.

They didn't create them.

Actually this is cool that people who know the truth are challenging what the US says happened!

3. I hope so.
Apparently he announced he was going over there to kill 'scumbags', which turned most Canadians against him.

4. Doesn't bother me any.
Annoying some people is an honor and a privilege.

7. Maple Fig Leaf
What kind of headline is that? Wikileaks is somehow at fault? The CBC is worse than PBS.

This guy Hillier's full of it, as well: US aircraft have strafed and bombed Canadians enough times that even the offending pilots say "Hey, I thought it was an Afghan wedding party..."

8. Are You
Looking for an editorial or a comment item.

This is what the great one, Hillier, has said.

So you tell us where the error is.

9. Well, if Hillier the warmonger says it wrong...
then I am more likely to believe the raw intelligence got it right.

Hillier was and is disgusting, a warmonger to the nth degree, imo.

"The U.S. Pentagon would not comment on the leaked documents, including the friendly fire report."

Yeah, why should the US give dignity to these documents by commenting on them. Oh yeah, because it's the US's own documents and they need to take responsibility for what happened instead of acting like it's something they shouldn't address since they don't like how the evidence was obtained.

Sort of like:

.... Yes, yer honor I had the murder weapon in my car but the point is, you're not allowed to search my car. So I refuse to acknowledge the murder and demand it be thrown out of court. In fact, you're slime for holding me accountable when you're not supposed to know!
