Small group protests the building of a mosque in Temecula
Source: Los Angeles Times

A small group of protesters took over a patch of grass across from the Islamic Center of Temecula Valley on Friday for a vocal but relatively tame protest against a proposed mosque, though they were greatly outnumbered by supporters from area churches who were there to support the Islamic Center.

The rally was held during the Islamic Center's Friday prayers and, at the urging of organizers, a few protesters brought their dogs, which many Muslims would consider an insult.

"This is America. This is a Christian country, this is not a Muslim country," said Zorina Bennett, 50, of Temecula, one of about 20 who attended the anti-mosque rally. "They are known terrorists. Read the Koran. They are trained to kill people from the time they're in their youth."

Bennett took her dog Meadow to the protest, knowing that many Muslims believe that the saliva of dogs is impure.

Guess what? According to Prop8TrialTracker.com, supporters of same-sex marriage have also outnumbered the anti-equality protesters at National Organization for Marriage rallies; the NOM is doing a summer national tour. So sensibility triumphs, I guess.

This morning on my local NPR station, I also heard that Temecula is proposing an anti-illegal immigration law a la Arizona SB1070. Muslim- and immigrant-bashing? Really something right there.

...or bigot woman (whatever the case may be)
Clearly you know you are in the United States of America. What you don't know is this 'aint "Christian Country." They (the Christians) have merely taken over, of late. This country was founded on the belief of religious freedom. Like it or lump. But that's what the ancestors wanted when they came here....so buy a fuckin' clue or shut the fuck up!

8. It changed from the 2000 election to the 2004 election

Muslims supported Bush in 2000, but not in 2004.

13. what does people protesting a mosque have to do with gay marriage
or are you attempting, poorly I might add, to link poor attendance at these protests?
