Schwarzenegger: Freed inmate shouldn't return to prison
(CNN) -- California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said he backs an effort to excuse a woman from returning to prison, after she's been out of jail for more than two years, to serve more time after a court ruled she had been released too early.

Schwarzenegger sent a letter dated March 25 to a California Supreme Court judge, supporting Pamela Martinez, who has been out of jail for two-and-a-half years, asking the court to recommend her sentence be commuted.

The California Supreme Court recently issued a ruling that she was released too early, and ordered her to serve the remaining 65 days of her sentence.

"Ms. Martinez has been out of prison on her own recognizance while her case was on appeal for approximately two-and-a-half years," the governor said in his letter. "During this time it appears she has led a law-abiding life, been gainfully employed and received a great deal of community support and encouragement.

"I would submit that her sentence be commuted to time served and that she be allowed to commence her period of parole forthwith."

<snip>

I never thought I'd be supporting Ahhhnold in any decision....and siding with him agains the Democrats....

1. She spent five years in prison for stealing a tool box
and the fucking AG is still going after her?

No wonder the democrats in California just got their ass kicked.

Fucking fools.

The ACLU is sticking up for her.

2. I used to respect Bill Lockyear
He worked with Pete Stark, one of our homegrown heroes out here...

But lately he's been out Republicaning the Republicans. First he shut down the gay marriages, now this...

And to top it off Arnold wants to end the 3 strikes law, Lockyear doesn't....

Are we in Bizarro world or something?

4. Arnold wants to end three strikes?
I'm starting to like ol' Arnold.

He's even said he'd back gay marriage if the people voted on it.

6. I wonder if my fantasy is true
During the election I mentioned that my secret hope waas that he was the 'Kennedy Mole' in the Republican Party.

I'm wondering if that is indeed the case....

3. Did you read the article?
The Democrats are not mentioned ONCE.

My guess is that most Democrats would support Arnold on this one. And that few Republicans would agree with his decision.

7. I would make the case, that's why Arnold won
I don't think Californians are dumb. (My son lives there)

They voted for Arnold because he's a celebrity, yeah, but also because he's not a Republican in the national sense, in the Bush sense.

His positions are closer to Dems, than Repubs. That's also why Guiliani was able to win in New York City.

9. this is common sense
I'm glad to see that Arnold's extensive steroid use and misogynistic behavior has not wipe out his common sense.
